View Full Version : A note concerning movies in game.

Anyone noticed that if you use a geisha to kill an enemy general the same movie is played - without variation? Same with a Diamyo. The General gets strung up by "guitar" chord, while the Diamyo sits for tea and gets a rather large hairpin stuck in him.
Also - there are a few of the ninja assassination movies that never get shown in game - such as the one where the ninja hides as one of the tower things and then spear stakes a sentry. If you wanna see that - you have to play the file outside the game - cuz its never "picked" as the one to see.
Lastly - Loseout.mpg - what the heck is this one for? It shows what I assume to be your Diamyo character dead on a funeral pyre getting lit. So far, I have never seen this one hooked in at all.
Any ideas on these? I would really like to see some variation in a couple of these - thats what they are there for. Just doesn't happen.

the loseout one... i have seen that one, unfortunately when you see that ingame, it means you have just lost. The ninja one you speak of. i have seen it several times, perhaps you see it less often because of the fact you are killing a priest.
NOTE: I STILL WANAT TO SEE THE LAST GEISHA MOVIE!..... hint hint

.geishax. should work, except in my copy the movie isnt included. So the "hook" into it doesn't work. CA/DT/EA needs to make the mpg available for all of those who did not get the movie clip for some reason.
Musta been those danged western laws against "offensive material" that kept it off the cd. ROFLMAO!
Seriously - I have lost a few times and still never seen the loseout.mpg clip. As for killing emmisaries or priests - whenever I kill a priest I get the geisha with a bomb or the strangling geisha. A ninja attempt gives me the bomb rolling in to go boom.
Unfortunately - the only "variety" I get is when I use a ninja to attack a buddhist emissary, or a geisha against a priest. Even then, its one of 2 movies.

I have seen nearly all the movies except for the Ninja vs Daimyo thing. For I never use darkforce to a Daimyo, and I won't allow any assassin to get close to my own.
From what you described, humm, maybe it's cuz you are using high rank ninja thus didn't get to see the "fail" version?
In one game, me and the AI were assassinating each other's priests like crazy to a point that in the end, I had one rank 6 Geisha, and 3 rank 5.
please explain what .geishax. is...
is it the last geisha movie??!

isnt it the geisha catfight?
I know of another for the Diaymo. The ninja does the string and poison trick which is seen in one of the bond movies. Amusing when he fails, the diaymo reaches up and pulls the string, the ninja falls down and his neck breaks his fall http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
There's also another for the general, Your ninja stands by a tree outside the field camp thing (like the one where he creeps in with the double headed nag thing) and uses a blow pipe through the canvas, If he fails he's killed by someone from the side, I can't remember how.

There are five different types of characters to assassinate, and thus obviously five kinds of movies as well. Among these are generals, DaimyƓ, Emissaries and Priests, but heirs count separately from generals and have separate movies too. I think.
The only Geisha clip I don't recall seeing in the game is #7, where she serves poisoned tea. Too bad, actually, since it's the best of them IMHO. Maybe it's the heir assassination animation.

Geisha catfight rules. They should have oiled up first, though.

Anssi - your correct - the tea delivery from the original was indeed one of the best.
Now - as for the movies - the ninja ones are ok - i get a fair assortment of those - 3 or 4 - but never the really good ones. Yes - it matters the target - to a point - but enemy generals/heirs share the same movies. Emisarries get their own, as do priests and diamyo.
For those that don't know - .geishax. was/is the cheat code that allows you to view a movie of geisha - that would rate as the letter after geisha in the code...
Unfortunately, they pulled the movie on some distributions....
If you can find it - icq or email me - I would like to have it as well.

Irving,
Same way ya use the .conan. code to play as the rebels. Only problem is - it will try to play the file - and won't find it - so nothing occurs - unless your one of the lucky ones that got it somehow. Check in the Shogun or WE/MI directory under the EVANIMS folder - thats where all the movies are. If you play them all and see one like I described - then the code will work for you. Otherwise you are like the majority of us who need the file.
