This is the best mod - apart from counterstrike - which I have ever played
Ever since playing Dark Omen and then STW, I have always wanted to play this sort of game.
I only wish that a seperate forum was made to discuss all things about NTW.
I am currently making music for the game to replace the MTW stuff. Is there a binary section where I can deposit them?
(My wish this year is that activision would hasten the process and make plans to release a full version of NTW next year)
I have just one suggestion for the makers of NTW. Is it possible to beef up the politics and the strategic factor in the game? Alliances, population sizes, ethinics, religion, economics were very important factors in Napoleonic warfare (or all major war for that matter)
Population sizes - Towards the end of the Napoleonic wars, the French were facing serious shortages in menpower. Many of the experienced French veterans were dead and could not be replaced. Similarly, Britain with a smaller population- was unable to field massive armies - similar to France or Russia -to fight in Europe - so they were forced to reply on their navy for their defence. So I advocate setting limits on the amount of troops nations are able to raise based on their population size and economics.
On a side issue -A large portion of the Grande Armee were non-French troops. Clauswitz wrote that a portion of the Prussian contigent - having been cut off in the retreat - mutined and went over to a Russian commander (who happened be also from Prussia). So employing foreign troops should also create a certain amount of risk - mass desertions or mutines - if they are fighting in their own countries.
Alliances - Britain historically made great efforts in financing its enemies' enemies. Part of this had to do with its smaller army - so it made sense to pay someone else to fight against their enemy - ie France.
