That Cleopatra can be such a pain in the asp... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif
they actually look about right for attack dogs, those were some real ugly mothers they used back then
The canis pugnax (Roman Moloss) that the Romans bred is extinct, but its nearest descendants are:
Cane Corso, the "light" version.
("Corso" is a dialect word meaning "strong", somebody derives it from "cohors")
http://www.moloss.com/motm/2002/102002/008.jpg
Mastino Napoletano (Neapolitan Mastiff), the 100Kg Heavy duty version.
http://www.friendsvet.com/kopek/resimler/Kopek_irklari_resimleri/neapolitan_mastiff.jpg
That Corso is a good looking big dog with little drooping flesh in the face, maybe a bit too big head. Strong neck, powerful snout and strong line along its legs and back. Not ugly like the Mastif.
Ok, I might just like big dogs more than most. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

And dont' forget...

I'm gonna mod my game to where the song who let the dogs out plays when the dogs are unleashed
I remember a hot dog company that had a motto of they use everything but the squeal, well I guess the Romans had them beat they used the whole pig and the aqueal too
I don't think that these dogs will be of pretty much importance. They'll be an ideal target for arrows, and what can they do against swords? Really, maybe they'll manage to kill some naked barbarians armed with clubs and scare off some horses, but nothing more.
And I can bet they it's gonna take a year or two to train a detachment. Quite futile.

What a great idea Marvin The Martian heavy foot. Bugsy Subterranean Burrowers. Elmer Fuddian Artillery. The list goes on... My heart bleeds that it will probably never happen because of the licensing issues http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

When are we going to see a fantasy total war this whole man/horse thing is getting boring http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Surely its what we want
ps: still looking forward to rome tho http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Konnichiwa,
Roman soldiers 'admired' the barbarian attack dog. The humans were routed off the field and the dogs were still fighting. I'm not sure whether releasing is a very effective strategy, I guess fighting alongside is better.
I recall that the Romans used the barbarian mastiff to fight in the theaters, the dogs showed here may be the product of some mixing.
That Corso sure looks great magnatz.
