I never buy games the first day they are out, no matter how much I crave them (and I do want this one, bad). Also, unless the CD is multilanguage, I'll have to find the English version, so I don't have to deal with bad localization.
I always wait till they drop there price on the game but for this 1 that could take close to year
When there's a game I want, then I'll usually buy it the first day it's released. And if I didn't have any time to pick it up, then the first day I can, I will pick it up.
Rome: Total War definitly belongs among those games I'm anxiously (sp?) awaiting for http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

I will probably buy it as soon as I find it.
If it will run on my pc.
CA is putting alot of effort into this game and it shows.
Of course I will get it ASAP, why would I be reading these forums and watching time commanders.
STW was great, MTW was even better and Rome will rock http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Well I hope so as we still have a year to wait http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif
I am a bit scared by the 'unorthodox' units (flaming pigs, attack dogs....., man eating hairdryers) thus I dont want to see TOTALWAR destroying their big charisma built by MTW and STW. I will probably play several times on another comp before buying

Yes, that trend is slightly worrying... not only the animals, but even some units are questionable (berserkers? classic egyptians? gladiators? princesses?).
Oh well, if worse comes to worst modding out fantasy units shouldn't be that difficult... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Ok, who was that was contrary and voted totally against RTW??? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

I'll see what can be done. Shouldn't be too hard to make it so http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif
As to a world-wide simultaneous release, well, we'll try, but no promises http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Certainly the publishers would love us for it, but the logistical problems are considerable...
Thx, that would really ROCK http://www.tournament.com/forums/images/smilies/tup.gif

Let's balance up the choices carefully:
-Ordering my legions into battle Vs hearing about everyone else ordering legions into battle.
-Conquering the heck out of everyone as the Julii Vs re-reading the Masters of Rome series. Again.
-Setting up funky ambushes as the Brits Vs watching my taped episode of the Boudica Time Commanders episode.
-Charging into battle with the Gauls yelling "Romans Romans Goody goody loads of Romans and they are all mine" Vs re-reading Asterix and seeing Obelix doing the same.
Hmmm, difficult choice. After several minutes of thinking I think the answer will be yelling "Romans There are Romans Get them" as I charge at my local Game at 9:00 AM on launch day http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

His word speaks only truth
His wrath undoes the wicked...

Yep, that sounds about right I took notes from the taverns "How to fight" thread just for the release of RTW, so any fool who gets in my way will need a little first aid

Id of thought so Bighairyman. Its unlikely CA would make significant changes, which would affect the minimum requirements. Im in your situation too with a 500mhz, P3, so i will see how the demo goes first. Fingers crossed

Short answer - yes http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Some people are of the opinnion fantasy units should be modded out. If you do that you will end up with some major factions been at a disadvantage unit wise. The so called babarian faction'S like the britons have no real units just some guy who turns up with his chieftain with some weapons he owns himself. no real unit stucture to a point and to a roman eye primitive tactics. CA had to do what they did the to the game obviously. I bet after a few games people will get sick of been kicked around and train some unit like sherwood foresters to even it up.
They can put in flying Elephants and Pigs and twenty foot tall barbarian warriors as long as RTW is easy to mod as they say it is.
I'm waiting, and seeing how it's been delayed till next year I'm expecting the AI to make MTWs AI look childish.
Don't count on it. I mean, I can't even dream at a better AI. This one is much too stupid to allow us any hopes for any possible improvement.
I'll get it on preorder as soon as it is available.
Same here.
This is how it'll go.
Day one:
Check out the different factions, play a bit.
Day two:
Start a campaign, won't finish.
Day three:
Research the time period, discover something is historical incorrect, feverishly work to correct it.
Day four:
Think "This would be so cool for MTW"
Day five:
Start but never finish my own RTW-MTW mod.

I'll buy RTW right away.
As for my first actions after installing it, hmmm I'm thinking a Carthage game would be fun (Muwhaha, feel the Wrath of my Stampeding Elephants you weak Roman Fools) http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Well, in order to make this topic less dumb, i'll go against popular opinion and say im not looking forward to it, as upon its release, i'll be paying £30 for the pleasure of becoming an unwashed, bleary-eyed hermit http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-confused.gif
Although having said that, the game should be great http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I may not get RTW as I prefer the Middle Ages period games. (e.g. Stronghold, Age of Kings, Medieval Total War.)
I tried other Rome period games (e.g. Caesar 3, Age of Empires, Pharoah).
I plan on getting it on the first day.

I will buy it.
But I hope there is something awfully wrong with it. Something that will annoy me so much I will be able to pull myself away from it to conduct such activities as eating, sleeping, and standing up to de-numb my butt.

I am definately looking forward to RTW.
I am definately not looking forward to the "numb-butt" side affect of good games.
I recall fondly and painfully the "numb-butt" feeling from long hours of playing the first Civ.

I cannot wait until the arrival of RTW. The only problem is that I am a miser and so am very controlling of my money and so probably wont get it till later even though I crave it...hopefully I can fix that by the time it gets out
Consul
I'm ceratinly not looking forward to it as I was looking forward to MTW. Well once it's out I'll check it out and make my judgements then. I know CA too well to do otherwise. That does not mean I do not expect anything from them, to the contrary I hold them to the highest expectations.

Holy knight, how can they not get cable into the north of England when KY has it and he lives in Scotland? North of England, eh? By any chance, have you a cockney accent? Always loved cockney accents.
Sadly, I am most definitely not looking forward to it as much as before, now with the whole unlocking factions thing. In fact, I might not buy it at all... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif
