Made this a seperate thread because there is a ton of new info from this translation at this link;

Stuff like;
"In contrast to MTW, RTW will have 4 different levels of valour. Generals will not influence the valour of an army, but they will influence that of morale and discipline. As in MTW, when you construct more buildings, more units will become available for training. And don't worry, because upgrading armor will also form part of the game. One will also be able to set rally points for an army so that they go to a set place when they finish training. So that units don't loose their so precious experience, the option of "retraining" will also be a new addition to the game.
-OR-
"The faction of the Senate (SPQR) will not be controlled by players, it will be controlled by the Senate. This Roman faction will be the most powerful out of the four, Julianus, Scipios, and Brutii (i suppose the Senate will resemble the Pope of MTW...). Rome is threatened from all sides, from the South and West, Carthage, from the East, Macedonia, and from the North, Gallia, so theonly choice one has to be successful in playing the Romans is to play as a team.
The Senate will give out orders to each of the 3 Roman factions like: "conquer Saguntum for Rome", and when the player achives this goal, the Senate will award the player with 5,000 dinarii or a unit of praetorians, for example... The senators (much like the Pope) will do whatever is necessary to stop you from gaining more power than you originally had, so if one tries to conquer Gaul or Iberia without any order from the Senate, one will have to manage the newly-conquered cities by oneself. But in the other hand, if one follows the will of the Senate, and is victorious at achieving it, one will be able to gain seats in the Senate until you become so powerful that you gain the seat of consul or pro-consul.

Some of it may even be accurate.

Euh????

Believing this is correct, what can be different in retraining?

Man, the strategic AI better be spot on when it comes to 'cooperating' let alone making common sense diplomatic decisions because I can just see it making tons of ridiculous requests to attack nigh-invicible nations... "The great unwashed people of Dacia request that you, the lowly Spanish, declare war upon your vast and dangerously wealthy neighbor the Romans. In return we shall grant you the sum of 100 Denarii and a donkey named Ted..." http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

"Top right pic= Gladiator:
Elite infantry. Their armor is based on Samnite soldiers.
They are almost invinsible when fighting head on with another infantry unit."

Elite infantry? Almost invincible?? What the hell? This simply has to be a case of journalistic license at work. At most I thought Samnite Gladiators would make for high speed, excellent attack, crap defense infantry like Highland Clansmen, Gallowglass or even Ghazi except with lower Morale.

Quote[/b] ]In RTW we have reshaped diplomacy and have made it resemble the complex yet entertaining diplomacy of Civilization 3.
I hope it doesn't resemble too much, because the diplomatic AI of Civ3 couldn't possibly be more retarded.

Quote[/b] ]For example, spies can now be used for counter-espionage and assasination, and a diplomat can now ask foreign princes for the hand of patrician princesses.
This is where Xena comes into play, I suppose... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Can you tell this guy hasn't played any TW games before? "Being able to marry off a princess is a new feature" http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif

No, I think they mean the feature has been expanded, so that you don't need to run around with a princess yourself.

However they implemented it, diplomacy by marriage didn't exist in Rome (at least not with foreign nations), and for that matter in Republican Rome there weren't princesses either.
Hopefully the writer was just fleshing up the article with his MTW experience...
