To reproduce this you will need a rare sequence of events to occur,

your king needs to die on the same turn that a neutral offers alliance via marriage to your first heir,

you will see the offer as between princess and your new king,
then the princess dissapppears from the strategy map, the alliance is made BUT your king is unmarried

where did the princess go???
:(

Maybe she was married to one of the king's brothers, as they would be heirs to the throne.

I suppose the marriage status gets reset to unmarried once the turn is completed as the game checked that the prince was unmarried in the turn before he became king and uses that status for the new king.

Probably... that sucks. Oh well, then a wife from the national nobility will have to do eh? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

The scenario I keep getting is one where I search hard to find a foreign princess willing to marry my king. The next turn the marriage takes place and I get a message saying my king was tired of waiting and married a local. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

How about mine? I'm at war with the Italians and asked for the hand of their princess for my heir. They agreed but we are still at war after that.

Bad luck for them http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I had three consecutive Emperors, all married to an Aragonese princess... so each of them were partially Spanish http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif The fourth of these kings was married to a Danish princess, and the fifth, unfortunately, to the daughter of a local noble. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

She threw herself onto the funeral pyre in utter grief at this most unfortunate and rare turn of events http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

Any sieges going at the same time by chance? Those will put you right back at war, IIRC.
