So are there only about 20 guys re enacting this legion? I recommend they beginning drafting the local populace.

I've always thought there was something a little odd about war reenacting, but whatever makes people happy.

i think medieval reenacting looks kind of silly. The armor looks kind of plastic and fake (which it probably is, i dont know) and it looks kind of cartoonish.

I like civil war reenactments (or of that time period) a lot better. Much more realistic and fun to watch.

I love history and strategy games generally, but battle re-enactments\dressing up like a tit is one path i swear never to go down :P

Well, at least not intentionally :/

Seriously though, fair play to anyone that can be arsed to run around in a field in the middle of winter, i'll be thinking of you when im at home sipping tea in front of my PC, playing MTW http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

indeed, i mean, it's good to remember, but not to translate this into reality

Well, you've got a re-enactment fellow right here ladies and gentlmen.

I'm part of a group called Regia Anglorum, we re-enactment the times of the Saxons from 750ad - 1066ad.

Tis good fun. Our season has finished now though, although will do still have battle practise through the winter. Gotta keep our skills sharp.

I went to the premier of Gladiator when I lived in Edinburgh, it was at the theater on Nicholson street, a few blocks from the University, and there were reenactors there. They looked fairly silly, one was a little overweight for a roman legionaire, and they shouted a lot. It was fairly hilarious http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

The only best re-enactments are the Varangians Guards.

Beer, Women, Battles and Gold, what more do you want

And easily authentically replicable.

Why?

We do this everyday don't we????

Try saying that when you're trying to manouvre (how badly spelt is that?) in it A lot of the time it is deceptive.

Some groups though tend to just try and put on an exciting battle with story et al, rather then authenticity though.

Was that performed after "the Gladiator"?
