View Full Version : Agent Escapes, oh he's dead

I seem to get a message all the time in 1.0 and 1.1 (at least, I'm pretty sure I got it before in 1.0)... but, I get the message "Report from your that he managed to escape an assassin, somebody objects to the work he is undertaking..."

And, then the very next message is that same agent is assassinated. Happens to me all the time.

Why is that - it seems annoying?

He's probably being targeted by more than one assassin at a time. He'll escape the first, but not the second. If it happens all the time though....I dunno.

I've had that some times, yes. Annoying. Once he escaped another assassin, but alas he got caught at the border http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Same happens to us humans. We assign more than one assasin to one target and sometimes we get the sucka on the first try while other times one of our guys has to die in order to let another one under the armour and release the fatal blow. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif
Then again, no matter how many multistarred killers you send in the enemy's way they all die because you seem to have targeted NEO http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/shock.gif

Nah, with enough assassins, anyone can be killed. Even if each assassin has a 10% probability of success, the probability that one of 20 such assassins will succeed is 88%. One of 50 such assassins will succeed 99.5% of the time, and one of 100 such assassins will succeed 99.999973% of the time. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

The simple solution is to capture Syria and get very high in the Assassin Tech Tree... Five Star Killers rolling out on command http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Its four stars killer running out on command, 1 star for province bonus and 3 stars for teching up all the way...

I think you maths may be out there. The chance that 1 in 20 will suceed is 20*((.1^1)*(.9^19)) which equals 27.02%. Statistically the best course would be to send 10 assassins who have a 38.74% chance of suceeding. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif

I have sent close to 20 assassins after a 0 or 1 star Pope on several occasions - many of these assassins with 1 or more stars - only to come up empty.

If my math is out there, then how come by your math, 20 assassins have a smaller probability of success than 10 assassins. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Nope Syria gives a two star province bonus to assassins.

At base level you get two Star Killers rolling out. Upgrade all the way to a Rookery (Fortress required) you get Five Star killers... your own personal Guys of Gisbourne http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
