View Full Version : New Pre-Clan Tourney!
The Pages over at RTK have come up with and Idea of having a pre-clan tourney. For any clans that have pre-clan(junior) members for example: Pages, 7Bear7Cubs,ect. This would give a chance to all the pre-clan to Junior members in the clans to compeate in a tourney. The rules arn't set in stone yet and being decided, depending also on how big of turn out we get. So I ask you is anyone interested? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/idea.gif
Proposed Format
Clan representatives to collaborate on the selection of a number of maps proportional to number of rounds i.e. 8 rounds 8 maps. These maps should be interesting with different challenges and hopefully if agreed utilise some of the maps provided in the new map packs. Each map should give some sort of advantage to the defending team.
Each team is to play each other over a qualifying period. Each team plays each other once as attacker and once as defender. The defender selects the battle map from any of the maps available on the list. The defender however may only select each map once throughout the tournament. This will ensure you are tested over numerous formats deserts, hills, and forests and importantly climates. It also ensures that you utilise your favourite maps at the right time against the tougher players. This will also encourage gamers to use more than one faction or unit selection. It is hoped fair play suffices but may require appropriate time limit to ensure attackers do attack.
1 point is awarded to defender winning and 2 points if attacker wins (like world cup qualifiers). This will ensure the better players that are able to win while attacking (away) have the most points and enter the knockout final round. It also importantly allows the players that are not as good to still get a few wins through the tournament. Most important of all adds a bit of variety and fun.
The knockout final will be traditional format, neutral flat maps 1 game knockout. After qualifying rounds top 6 or 8 teams play but maintain their order. In knockout final top points plays bottom etc. E.g. 1st plays 6th, 2nd plays 5th, 3rd plays 4th and so on in the next knockout round.
Hopefully this will result in a 1st 2nd final if it is deserving.
This should be a true test of MTW ability and will provide clans with effective feedback on their training programs.

Would there be enough players for this? Some Clans would have trouble fielding a team of senior members

Nice idea http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif.
Gawain and the pages would have more information about the tourney, but I would like to take the time and just see all who are interested.
grrrrrr http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif we do actually have a squire rank for new members check the Ranks Page (http://www.clankenchikuka.com/kenchi/copy.asp?copysectionsname=ranks) at Kenchikuka Castle for details but we dont like to make them feel stupid in the foyer aswell http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif unfortunately we have no squires at present
Baz, this is not to make them feel stupid in the foyer. It is but simply a chance for the newer members of each clan to get involved and compete with eachother, thus hopefully bring about new friendships and relations with one another. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
FF strongly encourages their newest members to participate fully side by side the longer serving members in the already established tourneys like CWC and CWB... As such, I am thinking we pass this offer
I understand where your comming from Temp, but this is in no way designed to take over CWC or CWB compettion. Maybe all it will be is just a fun few games, and hopefully a chance for our newest possible recruits to get a chance to meet some of your new members. In a sence it is ultimately hopefully brining about new friendships and keep the ones that we already have burning bright. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Quote[/b] ]After initial discussions with RTK members and members of other clans I would like to formally open the registration period for the RTK Pre-Clan Tournament.
We welcome all established clans currently utilising recruiting or pre-clan training of potential candidates. The focus of this tournament is fun and relationship building for the newest members to competitive MTW. As such to register you must meet the following requirements:
* You are a genuine recruit
* You have not been a knight in any clan
* You have not competed in any clan tournaments
Registrations will close on Thursday the 6th of November with finalised draw posted on Friday the 7th with the first round to be completed by monday the 10th.
I would also ask that clans that will have members participating view the format at Cei's barracks thread. I would invite them (1 representative per clan) to participate in the selection of maps, era's and climates for the preliminary rounds.
Regards,
Page_Ueaititi
Hmmm yes I see what you mean Cei...
Problem is, reading through the following message...
I have no idea what a genuine recruit is http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
We do not have the knight rank
Everyone of us have already participated in clan league's matches or will have before the end of november

There has been question over what is a genuine recruit and that most recruits will participate in clan matches in the near future.
As long as you have not competed in clan matches at registration that is enough. You can participate in clan matches during the tournament.
We would like to get as many players that are in training not experienced gamers moving from clan to clan. If you believe this is you please register.

Greetings all from IpainI This is a really great idea IMO and is a very good chance for recruits to get to eachother. Its also very smart because most of us recruits dont stand any chance on CWB and CWCs... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Yet We as most of you know are the recruits of Aggony Clan and we are considering about joining the tournament. But we some ask for some more information.
How many players can each team consist of? We are only two, me and claw.
I didnt see any information on florins. Is it also going to be determined by the council?
I especially like the idea of terrains and attackers getting 2 points. Since i suck at def and I hate STEPPES GAH

Balamir,
Florins will be standards 15000. We were going to wait to see numbers before we decide on size of teams. But I would say it will be 2v2 games so you have enough for team. Please register so I can post and get the other clans to see we are progressing.
It would also be advisable to have a clan member supervisor your progress and give advise. They may also whish to assist in the selection of maps etc.

15k is silly imho, almost everyone agrees 15k is too much with VI/patch, 10k is a nice middle road, and 8k might be the new standard. My vote would be 10k.
...then again I'm just a ronin, I'm not even a noob-clanmember http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif .
Ok. Our attendance in this tourney is not certain yet, since we are having some problems that are not appropriate to expose at this moment, but we will surely let you know our decision. I think 15 k is fine with the florin amount. 10k's value has not been proved yet, 8k morale too fragile to have a fight IMO. As we are recruits, We may not be able to fight a battle so fragile as some of you experienced players can http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

From Aka 1pain1zZclawZz
Hi Cei I have shown interest in the mention of this Tourney over the past week but have held off registering my 1pain1 name due to the start date and also my past membership within the WildBoars
A) ..My concern is that if I register now as a pain member and by comencement date of first round I shall be a full Aggony member by clan name ..... It has been requested to test me for Full membership with in the Aggony Clan would this be a problem
B)... my time with the WildBoars as WildBoarClaw ... No there was no recruitment training I entred the clan as a full member
..... I have not partisipated in any of the CWB or CWC and this favours me for the proposed recruitement tourniment .. but my main concern is the start date and entering by then posably with full clan Aggony name as mentioned above . I am sure during the tourniment rounds that other clan recruites will be under going simular tests for full membership within their clan
plz contact me in reply if this would be a problem for my avalibility to enter
regards 1pain1zZclawZz
Ps ... Btw will this tourny be held on MTW or VI ?

seanodon,
no problem with becoming full clan member. Just register now as long as you are recruit at registration is what counts. With your previous clan activities it is your call. There will not be a strict policy that you have not been in a clan. What is important is that you are a genuine recruit and being trained as the tournament is intended to also give clans feedback on their training programs.
If you belive you fit this category and are not going to wipe the field with everyone please register. I personally am being trained by RTK and since starting there training have only lost 1 TWN ladder match and am ranked higher than members that are not considered recruits.
The thing is, like you this is my first clan type tournament and I am being trained by them that is what is important.

A forum has been set up at the RTK website for this tournament. Please, feel free to visit and post, as this tournament could benefit not only all clans, but those interested in joining a clan in the future. We have all been trained at one point or another, and some of us (me) are still being trained http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif . The important part of the process is the knowledge and enjoyment that comes from fair participation in tournaments such as this. I hope that this tourney gets widespread support.
I'm sure the RTK leaders would have rather this announcement came from the Emissary Cei, but, well it's coming from me right now. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif He can add his point of view as he sees fit. Good Luck to all those competing.

The semifinals were played this weekend in a knockout best of 3. 1st played 4th and 2nd played 3rd.
Semifinal Results
Merlins Magic vs RTK3
Victory for Merlins Magic 2:0
Aggony vs Bear
Victory for Aggony 2:1
Would players please give their best to the finalists and to Merlins Magic and Aggony who will play the first ITL Championship Final this weekend.
Thanks to all those who participated it has been a steep learning curve for us all and I know a lot of good relationships have resulted from the tournament. I hope tournaments like this continue to occur so that the newest members to TW have an opportunity to compete and meet gamers outside of their clans.
