i'm sure others have noticed this. with new patch you can also have princes dieing of natural cause before the king, i dont think this was possible before. my king is still living at 59, i get a notice that a general has died of old age but it leaves a blank for his name. after looking around map i realize it was one of the kings younger brothers, about 52 years old, who died. its beginning to worry me because the kings eldest son is only 10. if i'd kept pre-patch it would be no worry because king still has another younger brother who is 49 and would have lived to 56 under pre-patch in time for son to come of age. but with the patch who knows... on other hand maybe the king will now live to see his son come of age. gotta love the suspense

It does seem that when a prince dies the name is always blank. I'm not sure if the reverse is true where it's always a prince if the name is blank. If your king lives a long time, his brothers don't provide much dynastic security since they will probably die off soon after becoming king if they even live long enough to become king.

I haven't noticed that issue, yet. One thing I've noticed is that sometimes your king is, for instance, 59 and the oldest prince is 54 http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif. Another thing is that sometimes another factions kings dies two or three times before yours http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif.

Generals have always died in VI, atleast my El Cid, but dont worry, if you dont activate the green general switch he will be replaced by a identical general with a different name and the same titels...

I've been using WesW's medmod v3.12 in which he corrected some of the text file errors in vi v2.01, and for the first time I've seen a Prince identified by name when he died. I also haven't encountered any blank names in the death notifications.

I like the idea of Princes dying before the King, it makes sense and it does add some suspense. Does that WesW Mod make Horde playable?
