So I fire the alcoholic governor of Tuscany, for making me lose money. Next thing I know I have a rebellion in five provinces ( the rascal was married with a princess). So I proceed to crush the rebellion as usual, but as soon I execute the rebel rabble in Milan I get another rebellion on top of the first one.

So much for being a kind, forgiving leader - next time I catch someone siphoning my best Chianti is it the freaking inquisition http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

I just disband the unit. No fuss and no bother, and not very expensive.

What if the guy has a good unit? He never does. i never let the computer auto-assign titles. All my governorships go to obsolescent units.

Even when you have a 6 star general with 6 acumen & a great, high-tech unit, you'll give the title to an urban militia with 4 acumen instead?? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif

Disbanding is a pretty good way of getting rid of bad generals of obsolete units, but for up-to-date ones are generally worth keeping.
Also, it might be a 7 star general with 8 acumen but a bad vice. You are gonna want to keep him on as an army commander but want to lose the title.

I've never had a rebellion due to a title stripping http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif
A way to avoid it might be to put the general involved into the stack of a higher general or king after you have selected him for title stripping, since he will no longer be the general but a mere unit leader, then after he is stripped, you can check the loyalty & let him out if he's not too pissed.
