View Full Version : For those who remain faithful to Olde Shoggy

I don't know how many people here play olde shoggy, but it seems that numbers on the olde server are a bit random.

I thought it'd be an idea if people who play regularly could coordinate the times that they were on, or maybe people could post the times that they play on this thread. Also could any clan members post on behalf of their clan and/or friends on the other message boards.

This is not a personal attack as I have seen it used many times, but nothing bugs me more at the moment, so maybe someone can explain?

What is old "SHOGGY". Is it a cunningly witty, shortening of the word "Shogun"??

Well, er...Shoggy... let me count...um 6 letters

Shogun... Um... 6 letters

Shoggy might be the illegitimate brother of Shaggy from Scooby Doo but surely not a class real time battle game?

Petty I know, but bloody annoying.

I see NO difference now from old shogun to the MI except guns are more competitive unit, which removed a boring 10 minute gun fight every game. The new units give a player more choice and flexibity in play.

Well Boro - yeah it's a 'slang' definition of Shogun.
Everybody has his own slang words for example I use...
'nods' for no-dachi
'monkeys' for monks
'koks' for koku

Whatever. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

Suppose your right Tera, It's just sometimes silly little things get under my skin. Dont you ever get that? I was just trying to be humorous about it but yet again my sense of humour has failed to be put across so others find it funny.
Better not give up my day job eh?

1master1Boromir, I find that calling it Shogun is a little too formal for my liking: I prefer 'Shoggy' because it is a little more personal.

LordTed, how many times have people said that to me... I dunno what is wrong with you folks (Tera, Satake, etc) http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif but they are blatantly different games. Particularly from my point of view (I admit my tactics are hardly varied) but they do not work at all in MI.

To all you others: what are you doing here? This is a post specefically for olde Shoggy; I guess you're all trying to get hip with the olde skool vibe eh!? You know you want too... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

sorry man, i've evolved. the stw:we works great. maybe one day i'll auction off my "old shoggy" when pc games become the collectible equivalent of the atari 2600s, but until then, it's going to sit right here on my shelf gathering dust
