grrr this is geeting annoying.. The units I make, the building I make, all have these little black boxes for icons. such as, When im in battle, my wessex blood knights, scottish feeble men, and scottish long bowmen all have black boxs.. so I cant tell whos whho.. here is a screen shot. feel free to luagh at how bad my graphic card it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

You need to make sure they have the exact same background color as the originals, Paintshopt seems to screw the colors up, i use a prgram called GFX, which works well. someone else might be able to sugest a better program than that tho

I didnt cange the backgroound color.. I used the same biff of the clans men.

Yeh but when you save it, for some reason the pallette gets screwed up, that program i suggested saves the colors the right way.

umm i copy and renames the file... does that still screw with the color?

do you change the picture that is in the file. alsi It needs to be the same format eg Spearmen.lbm

Okay I will tommorw, I'm itred and about to go to bed okay. so I will when i get up before i go on my job hunt.. yes vlad is getting off his butt and getting a job.. what files do u want?
just the review unit icon?

no, the files you need are in battle>uniticons - that may be your problem if your copying the wrong file

If you're having black boxes, then you didn't make your unit icons, period

There are two kinds however, there is the UnitName.BIF located in campmap\Reviewpanel\Units. This image is used in the strategic mode when viewing the techtree, or when selecting units in custom/MP battles. I believe you made this one.

Then there is an UnitName.LBM located in Battle\UnitIcons and this is the one you did not make.

Solution: copy an appropiate UnitName.LBM and rename it. And be glad that MTW gives you black boxes instead of the all so common CTD.

You might want to read Chapter 3 in my Guide to unit graphics (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=5;t=9968), there I talk about editing the unit icons.
