Hi...
After some random modding and a few more or less successful creations I have at last focused on a goal...

Creating a mod which follows the Byzantine Empire through a couple of periods...

One little problem...Byzantine military what units and so should be included...and where can I find such knowledge...since it seems my many Byzantine history books fail to mention anything of equipment and unit types...

The Periods are as follows
Maurikan Period
Thematic Period
Komenian Period (ends 1204)
and maybe Late Period (1204+)

"Warfare State and Society in the Byzantine World 565 - 1204"
by John Haldon

This first book covers a lot of the logistics of war and its impact eg. methodology of war, raising of troops, order of battle, taxation policy etc.

Another by the same fellow would be:

"The Byzantine Wars"

This second deals more with the tactics of battle (though obviously give reference to troop type) from Justinian on through to Manzikert.
