Been a while since I've played Shogun ,and I'd forgotten how much I loved this game.
Don't get me wrong ,Medieval's a great game ,but I like the elegance of Shogun .Plus the one season one turn makes the game that bit more immersive.(Couldn't they at least have brought that back for Viking invasion?)
Now if only I could get online.Read the Can't get online thread ,and tried everything ,but no luck so far http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif
Oh well I'll just have to keep trying.
hope to play some of you soon.

Got online and had my first beating tonight http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Anyway, because I had to sign up again ,I couldn't use the name The Scourge ,which is ok because to tell you the truth I'm getting a little bored of it anyway.
New online name is WarLord http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif
Alright, not that great either ,but it's the best I could come up with at the time.
Hope to see some of you there later.

Welcome back

You might have noticed the Shoggie online community is rather small now, but...very dedicated and friendly.

Every time I would go back and play a bit online everyone was nice. Could be because they know without me they couldn't play a game, cause some one has to be there....but it was probably more. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Whew its been forever since I posted on this forum.Whatever happened to the off topic forum thing? If the mods knew how long its been since I played STW, they would prob kick me off the site*glances at mods*.

Well, reading now and than in here, it seems more and more players are returning to good ol' Shogun. I have never played online, but the campaign indeed has this wonderful atmosphere MTW has not. MTW seems, well, not medieval enough. Don't know what it is, the units, the colours probably, but Shogun is, as I read in the entrance hall, a work of art, where Medieval is a very good game (don't know who said it, but it is so right).
And now to know that I have only the very first vanilla shogun, no WE. I cannot find it anywhere, I would even buy the whole set of it if I could just find it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

Keep searching, maybe online shops have some left...

Indeed, I rediscovered the game....

Today I had a few massive battles (broken the power of the Shimazu clan, playing Uesugi). Biggest one was 5000 of mine + 500 Oda allies vs 3400 Shimazu troops in the plains of Yamashiro...

After an hour of bitter fighting 3034 Shimazu warriors lay dead scattered all over the plain, at the cost of 942 of my own brave warriors... Among them was the Shimazu daimyo, who fell early when standing up against my heavy cavalry.

Especially one of my Naginata cavalry unit was impressive, having slaughtered 529 enemy soldiers..

My Oda allies have now served their purpose... they have dislodged the enemy from strong positions in four of the battles, but are now surrounded by my territory....

So Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Oda Nobunaga will have to perish soon....

Thanks for the responses. I like searching for books and hard to find CD's in real stores, that, and that I have never before ordered something online was the main reason I guess. But, the above 'principle' has been put aside, and I ordered the Warlord Edition from bol.com. 3 to 4 days it says http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I like the original very much Orda, but I just would like to try the other units, especially naginata cav.
http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Can't wait...
