Hi,does anyone know of any good books on his campaigns i've searched for hours and can't find one (still in print). I would be most grateful for any assistance as his career seems quite impressive at a glance, but i'd rather find a complete history of his campaigns to better understand them.Any help appreciated
SD.

The only thing I know about him is that he defeated the Prince de Condee at the Battle of the Dunes in 1658. The only reason I know is because he had a regiment of Cromwell's English 'New Model' infantry under his command. It was the only time I believe that they fought on the continent, and they played a decisive part in the battle. They routed a Spanish 'Tercio' entrenched on a huge dune that commanded the right wing of Condee's army. Apparently the Cromwellians were outnumbered, and had to fight uphill, dragging each other up the side of the dune in the face of the Spanish pikes and guns.....so much for Sun Tzu http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Their morale must have been red-hot.

Apart from this I only know that Turenne had a chequered career, suffering several defeats and changing sides a couple of times. However, he ultimately triumphed and became the main man in the French military.

I know that Napoleon considered him one of the best generals in history but i don't have specific info on him.

Thanks for the replies,@ Nohkor yes most of what i've read about him was written by Napoleon himself.
