Has anyone made a campaign map for Southeastern Europe/Byzantium/Middle east/Italy? I really need to use one for my upcoming Byzantine mod I am going to make. It starts in the year 773 and ends in 1204. And I really need to know if someone has made that so I can use it in my mod. Please reply. Thanks http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I would, but they are making a map specifically for Greece. I need all of the Byzantine Empire, South East Europe, Italy, and the Middle East for my MOD.

Where is the thread or website for your Byzantine mod?
I might be interested.

Oh, I haven't started it yet, and I really don't know how to make a webpage, http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif , so there isn't a webpage or thread for it. But it will use some Viking Units, with unit/build prods modified to reflect changes in the Dark Ages, such as: re-named factions, new campaign, historical battle(s), historically accurate campaign map (if I just decide to use the Europe Map). I will start a thread for it however. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

How about looking at the MTW map, and cutting out Italy, MiddleEast, and so forth.

Hi,
Making the map is not very difficult. The main problem is to find a good map and mentally divide the areas and give them to the factions. Also you have to find a reference to the resources of the areas included. You need a rather big map starting from Libya till Caspian sea.
At the moment I was thinking on building a map for "Republicum Romanum" with Italy and a part of Lydia for Carthage. This was to be used as an example for a map/mod making guide ... this can be no this map ... but I will need the information and the map.

Just copying the map out of the original strategic map and then enlarge it in a good grafic program...add a black stripe on the bottom...
Just look in the how to create a map in the entrance hall...for help...then getting someone to help you with the lukmap would be good since I havent figured out a good way to do this...
Province names can be found in history books...I would recomend Oxford History of Byzantium...edited by Cyril Magno (or something) it got good maps over near all byzantine periods...
If you create one that works post it...(I'd really like to have a working map)

Hi LordChance,
Well ... you can use a scaled up version of the existing map ... but I wouldn't use it for any Byzantine mod. The Existing map deals with Europe not the Middle east. You need a map from Baghdad till Spain and a good part of middle / north Europe ... to have some thing like this is VERY difficult. You also need a references to what each area produced and what minerals it has. Also a rough idea of the political borders in the region is needed.
And trust me ... after having made two totally new mods (Trojan, Hellenic) and one new map (China) I know what I am talking about ... research is ~1/2 of the total time to make a map work

I think you misunderstod me...I know much of the time is spent reserching...just have a look on my work bench where the books pile up...I have it all checked or at least available when it needs checking...
However creating the lukmap seems the real problem all else you could test and slowly work through but the game wont work unless the lukmap is totally accurate a single mistake and it wont...at least to my experiance...

Have you tried the LMM?
Any way try to get the LMM and I will try to finish a tutorial on mods using some tools that I have created with LMM.
