I having been playing a single player campaign for a few days and have run out of time. Is there a patch, cheat or mod which can circumvent the time limitation so I can continue playing? Please help a frustrated gamer.
If this has been previsouly addressed, my apologies.
i'm guessing you started on late? or maybe the viking campaign? i've never heard of any ways to extend the campaign end date, but if you start on early you'll have enough time to conquer europe about ten times over. really, just move on to another faction and have fun trying them out, start earlier if you really want to sit tight and breed.
the game has so many fun factions, so much variety, that i find i have just the opposite of your problem: after about 40 or 50 turns i feel as if the game is no longer a challenge and i move on to experiment with someone else. there's plenty to do without extending the length of the game. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Use this mod in the campmap startpos file for the campaign that you want to play. I am not sure if it will work for a game in progress but you can try. If you started in early for instance, try modding the early file but don't change the name of the campaign from early (or whatever campaign it is you played), and see if it will load from a save game a few turns before the game ended. I have never actually tried it myself, so I have no idea what will happen. Back things up before you do it, so that if it gets screwed up you can always go back. I have a feeling it won't work and that you can only do it in a new game, but you can always try. Anyway, here is the part of the campaign file that you need to change. You can make the end date whatever you want.
SetStartDate:: 1088
SetGameEndDate:: 2003(or whatever year you want it to end in)
SetPeriod:: EARLY
Make sure that you get the spacing right or the game won't load. What I do is copy the SetStartDate:: line in its entirety, paste it in where I want the mod line and change the text. Then just do all the rest of the stuff required of a modded campaign file, just look aroundin the Dungeon it's stickied there.

Go to the download section here (http://www.totalwar.org/Downloads/Tools.shtml). Down the page a bit is a file 'year1454_limit_fix' that is supposed to work with games in progress.
