I've tried changing startpos.txt files for the purpose of changing incomes of certain provinces. Today I did a quick check to see how reliable it would be. I picked a few specific provinces, and upped the income a few thousand in each of them. Trust me, I didn't change anything else in the file... I didn't re-format anything. All I did was add an extra digit to a few of the income numbers (no accidental deletion of tabs).
I went into the game, and the new incomes showed up when I started the new campaign. Everything worked fine, but only for a few turns. Then of course, at the end of a turn (when it was about to finish the 'cycle'http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif the game CTD. I'm not sure if this had anything to do with it, but that year was the first year where someone conquered one of those high income provinces (the french retreated from il de france and the germans took it over). Did it crash because it couldn't calculate the amount of pillaged florins? Does anyone have any idea why I can't adjust income without the game crashing? (this isnt the first time its happened. Ive tried it many times in other campaigns)
BTW I'm using MTW 1.1
