alright this may sound like a stupid question but uhh, how many units can there be on the battle map?
Depends on your setting. if it's a 60 unit setting 960 per army, you can have up to 120 units in an unit so that's 1920 per army, a maximum of 4 armies makes the maximum number of units on a map 7680. That's if you aren't playing campagn. Campagn can be a lot more if you'll accept dead bodies as units. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif I am good. ::blows on his knuckles and rubs em on his shirt::

You shouldnt try Custom battles with more then 2 Armies itll go VERY VERY slowly but once if forced the Shimazu horde to have a huge battle (I was Imagawa) it said they had 4500 troops while I had 4100 (more or less) The reinforcements just kept pouring in for more then 30 minutes (REAL minutes i turned off the damn timer)
You haven't seen my usual 2 hour long (actual time) fighting against a 7000-strong horde on 60 men setting.

that's sort of odd because when i play campaign or any other battle it says that i am about to fight like 3456 vs. whatever number but it only shows 1920 of my people and 1920 of the enemies.

You have to wait for reinforcements (which only come when ur army routs) Because atleast I dont think that managing 3000 men would be too easy

oh so my army have to rout in order to get the others. yeah i guess it would be hard to manage over 3000 people http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
the speed of a game depends on some things,
connection
pc and equipment.....ofcourse http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
i saw games with 6 and 8 players and they was pretty fast, like a 1v1...
koc
Max is this:
Assuming no kensai, ninjas or sanda bomas:
16 units X 8 players (max) =
16 units X unit size X 8 players =
(With 60 man units http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
16 X 60 X 8 =
960 X 8 = 7860
(With 120 man units http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
16 X 120 X 8 =
1920 X 8 = 15360
GAH!
ellocomoco,
Each army is limited to a maximum of 16 units on the field at one time. You can withdraw a few units, and you might get a few reinforcements. If you withdraw all your units including the taisho, you'll get a lot of reinforcements, but the 16 unit limit per army can never be exceeded.
