I know that there is a post on the colosseum about tonights show, but as im sure there are many of us who cant post there yet, i thoghut id add my comments here.

1) is the new timing good or bad. Well given that it follows the Simpsons and Fresh Prince of Bel Air ( repeats i know) the BBC have obviosuly targetted the show to the younger audience( altho as im 38 i always watch bbc2 from 6pm to 7:30pm monday to friday) and I'm sure from CA's point of view this could mean more sales for both RTW and also the previous games ( again I bought MTW after seeing the first episode of Time COmmanders, not being a big game player, i dont keep uptodate on what games are out there)

2) The format - well if it seemed rushed when it was an hour long programme then condensing it into a 45 show isnt going to make it any better. altho as i have said in a previous post for all those people who say the contestants dont get enough of a briefing, they obviously get more than the viewer actually sees. secondly on this point they have cut the briefings down to fit the time, the battle section appeared about the same length, and surely for people who want to see how the new engine appears and the troops avaialble, this is better than listening to teh players discussing how they are going to get it tactally wrong. Im not saying the tactics section isnt important, but on the basis that most of the players on here already have a good grasp of tactics watching people who are less able (when it comes to the game) discuss their tactics is not that exciting other than for cringe value. maybe if more experience players played then it might be useful, but would it make watchabel tv (does time commanders make wwatchable tv as it is anyways)

Thirdly : quote of the day and forgives my sense of humour here but surely the young girl vicki saying to her fellow leftenant (james dont forget you have to pull out) made me wonder if i was watching a carry on film with that double entendre :-)

anyways thats my view up their to be shot at by all comers :-)

I have to say that the quality of the contestants is what lets the programme down. A tacticly astute player of stw or mtw would walk all over the so called experts on the show.

I thought that last nights show was really fun, as was last weeks (especially with those elephant charges - awesome).

For me it makes it even more fun watching it being played by a team of people who have absolutely no experience at all of playing these types of games as it then become really entertaining and perhaps more appealing to a wider audience of viewers that can relate to them. I think that it would spoil it by having a team of 'experts' playing the game each week as the bantor and panic as they are being out flanked or absolute elation as they find that they are winning - and not sure as to why - is great stuff to watch.

After watching some of those teams play I almost feel as though I'm not that bad after all http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

The post mortem after their fight and the re-enactment of the original battle is always fun to watch.

Great TV alround - I must get my TV Capture Card fitted and then Cap them and turn them to DivX or something to keep http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I think the show would be more entertaining if they split the team into two teams of two and had them play opposing sides.

That way at least both generals would have the same level of ineptness.

You could also liven things up by having parent’s vs children, teacher’s vs pupils, etc etc.

It's in the quicksand slot now anyway, I doubt we'll get another series (Sunday evenings would have been a better slot IMO). Unless CA can be persuaded to create sets of units from other eras, I can't see the show having the diversity to sustain its viewer base. The general public must be getting bored by Roman era wars every week.

I agree with chilling human v human wouldbe more entertaining especially if you could pick your own army. If fightbox on bbc three can be classed as gaming entertainment then multiplayer on time commander would be riveting.

Ok Guys, for those who hadn't seen the show or been in the Colosseum here is a copy of my post about what happened in the battle...

There they (the team as the Hittites) were lining up to crush an Egyptian Army besiging their city and what did they do, they tried to play a defensive battle and attempt to Lure the Egyptians across the river with their chariots.

The team suspected that another Egyptian force was enroute when they realised they had some Unit Blocks spare on the map board... But they stuck to their little plan, their chariots did a sudden vicious strike on the Egyptian troops but didn't have anything to follow up with while the enemy was disorganised.

They withdrew leading the Egyptians on to cross the river when suddenly, THEY STOPPED One guys said They can't do that, what a dirty trick. So they had to change the plan and cross the River.

The Egyptians who were initially taken by surprise got the time to reform into a good solid battle formation and by the time the Hittite infantry was across the river they were ready for them, and the infantry battle slowly went their way...

Then suddenly the Egyptian reinforcements arrive to the Rear of the Teams Army (Life's harsh aint it). Caught in a vice between the two armies the Team got minced (who'd have guessed)

I am sorry that you can't watch it - now if only I can cap it and convert it to DivX I am sure that I could compress it down to an e-mail attachment http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I read an interview with one of the CA guys a while back. It was in PCZone over here, they touched upon Time Commanders. I'm sure he hinted at a US show being 'in production'.

You never know...
