Usually I get a big empire and refuse to take the 60 percent win and get to about 75 percent and something stupid happens that makes me say the heck with it and when I do finish I almost always autoresolve the last part just to get it over with. Its just no longer fun when you can walk all over everyone and it takes 20 minutes just to finish the campaign map turn

I do take the 60% victory to avoid exactly what oaty describes. I have never done a 100% victory and think that 'this is the one' every new campaign I start, until the tedium of conquering 1000's of peasants and revolts drives me to take the easy way out.

I have started playing MedMod exclusively, which has upped my completion rate because you can lose those fairly easily if you don't watch it. I am more tempted now to go beyond the 60% option just to see all the cool new units in action, and no peasants makes each battle more interesting.

I always finnish the games, but I haven't conquered 100% of the map on a LOOONG time because of earlier mentioned reasons. I always quit at 60% unless there's another empire with 40% of the map and a VERY good army.

i rearly finish my games when on total domination....after conquering about 60% of the map the amount of vices your governors get such as outlaw is ridiculous, and i often get discouraged when i have to wade through a heap of re-emerging factions....but enough of the grumbling..otherwise i always finsish my GA games..like a good little boy http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

It does get tedious.

But I finish them just to be sure that I am not kidding myself when I come to think that I am bound to win.

And that has an effect because I take a lot of trouble to prevent rebelion and faction re-emergence (on my lands).

Which is one of the primary strategic challenges.

One reason for the tedium is the sense that if somethinbg goes wrong - rebelions do occur, or a stray crusade gets past the border armies - that this has happened because of an irritating slip rather than because of misjudgment. And the punishment for the slip is two or three or four hours more play in a campeign that has lost much of its savour.

But I find enough satisfaction in seeing the campeign through to make it worthwhile. And putting things right after a slip does sometimes throw up a novel situation or generate the conditions for a knife edge battle. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I have finished the game twice

- once with Spain
- once with Byzan

Since then, I get bored after about 60%, so usually quit.

In most instances, I lose interested after about 150 years, and start to autoresolve.

In most recent times I start with later campaigns so the game wont last so long, hence I wont loose interest.

I finished once as the Spanish, once as the French, and then I just took the 60% wins (easy way out for all above reasons)

Finish all my campiagns I start and most of the battles that take place within the battle. As for m/p i always finish, first enjoy the tackics even if I have been routed out already. I believe it's an important aspect in the game. I've recently started playing and have improve in some cases because I understand the importance of keeping your troops within your grasp

I've never finished any campaign. I play as long as the game is challenging, when there is no fun I just stop. I was having a great game with the Poles. I'd finally won the war on multiple fronts after 30 years of hard campaigning -- then had five daughters in a row. I did have a son, finally, but my king died before the boy reached his majority. And no, I did not neglect finding wives for all princes before that.

Every time I try a non-Muslim faction, it seems, something like this happens.

I've 100% completed with the following:

1. Danish
2. English
3. Byzan
4. Spain
5. France (this was good fun, and it took a good long while to stomach the idea of playing French, let alone conquering the known world.

Working on HRE now. After this, I'll probably play through the Russian Princes again, whom I enjoyed previously, but could not win with (as my opponents had grown too much by the time I had consolidated).

In the Viking Expansion, I've been succesful with the Vikings, as well as the Saxons. I plan to attempt a Scottish win, as well as a Pictish win. Then I will more than likely attempt a Welsh win. The VE map I find more stimulating, as it deals more with Kingdom ruling, as opposed to Empire ruling. I take great pleasure in running the administrative aspects of a Kingdom, as opposed to the daunting Empire administrative red-tape, especially in the 60%+ spectrum of victory in the main campaigns.

I can relate much more with the concept of scope of the VE map, as opposed to the scope of the European map, where a kingdom may have 4 regions... I would find it much more amazing if those four regions could be subdivided into further subsequent provinces, etc.

When my empire gets huge, I find little satisfacion in destroying the rest of the world.

It becomes a bother to make everyone happy and make sure the ships are in the right place ... and to create an army large enough to move around the world easily.

I bought MTW in December of 2002 and have yet to finish a game to completion (I usually play early and High period). I generally dont play world domination, and build up a solid strong country. Once that happens the game, although still fun, becomes a issue of micromanagement, with only the occasional battle. I havent finished a game, but have achieved this stability with every faction.

Sometimes I play out to 100% domination, especially if my empire was a long time in coming to full strength or if the last enemy was bothersome during my campaign. Other times I get to about 70-75% of the map and start over.

I have taken the partial win about 5 or so times, but I never quite managed to get that glorious 100% win, im still working on it though.

im pretty determined to beat this game, im currently modding to give me a small edge i need to defeat it, after that though I plan to take off all mods + reinstall. I just wanna see the last screen that sais I kicked everybody in the nuts

Ended a game today - albight, not the way I wanted My royal family died out as Hungary, no heirs. I've been unable to download the patch that gets ride of the 56 bug... Or maybe it was chance, I don't know.

That would have to be the latter. I'm definitely not a great general. I work 37 hours a week, I sleep about 7-8 hours a day. The rest is devoted to my games addiction, although not only to MTW. Just added HRE to my list of 100% completed.

Drinks
Food Stops
TV
Rest

I have played through the full campaign as the HRE, Italians, Byzantines and Turks. The HRE and Italians were on the GA track while the BYZ and Turks were for the 100% territory win. I think that once the basic mechanics are understood and taken advantage of, its not too difficult to see the factions through to completion. Truth be told...many more times I've just gotten bored with how a campaign went (ie: I find it more enjoyable to have many other factions present throughout all the eras...and keep em' all playing against each other) especially when a superpower emerges that just swallows up 2-3 other factions and gets all full of itself. As a fun sidestory, the last game I played was as the Spanish...I had acquired the Iberian penninsula in full and all of northern africa all the way up through Antioch (just KO'd the Egyptians) when I realized that the Papacy had, get this, sicily/rome/naples/milan/genoa/provence/venice/croatia/greece and hungary I have never seen the Papacy that active (and on normal difficulty to boot) let alone carving out its own empire. Anyone else seen this? I have VI patched.

Before I whooped the holiness out of him as HRE, the Papacy had nearly all of the Italian states and was looking East. I'm both displeased and pleased by this outward aggression. It just gets annoying with how the Pope reacts to threats.

I usually play GA but I almost completed a game with 100% unfortunately there were uncontrolable mass rebellions that couldn't be stopped with 300 men in each region and every turn a faction reappeared and I just couldn't manage to keep my empire together with my 250000 men big army so I gave up.

It takes soooo long time to finish the game. And checking all those 1001 provinces is really dull. (You have to keep a close eye on them if you want to prevent rebellions.) For these reasons I complete only 25-50% of my campaigns.

P.S. I think your poll has too many choices: I guess that most players do not keep track of all games played and thus won't be able to figure out the % by margin of 10. At least I cannot. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Never finished a game ever I always got bored after 100 years or so and started a new campagin. Although, in my current campaign as the english, I have about a third of the map, and I'm still going strong. Started in early, and I'm now in the process of slugging it out with the Horde.
