The BKB's Super Mod Beta is fine. It added about ten new factions as Wales, Scottish, Almoravids,Bohemian and about thirty new units with new textures. I like this new units, especially for Muslim - Nubian Infantry with axes, fast Andalusian Cavalry, Saharan Camel Warriors, anti-cavalry African Longspermen. Warning, this mod is big (about 40 MB.

I like also Medmod, but it maked game hard and it's mainly for veterans.

If you like times when Roman Empire was collapsed you must play mod fall of Rome.

And many others mods are waiting for you http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif .

Hi,

As you've only recently got into MTW and VI, I would say that the standard game (with the latest patch) will have a huge amount of gameplay for you to enjoy. I think having a knowledge of the standard version really helps before starting a new mod. I spent a long time working my way through the different factions, and difficulty levels before looking at any mods.

Currently spending my time playing Wes's mod 3.12, which is excellent and a tough challenge http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Enjoy the game

MedMod 3.12 is the one to go with, it is more challenging than the basic game.

with medmod installed you still have access to the default (unmodded) units, provinces and factions in the game, just pick the one you want to play at the campaign selection screen. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

MedMod 3.12 (or WesMod).
But not for the beginers. The proper time is when you win too easily on expert in the original game.

I agree with Hangman and Scipio: learn the standard MTW/VI first. In addition to their stated reasons, doing so will give you a much greater appreciation for the mods themself and the work put into them.
