okay, first off, this one's tough, but i've only played it once. as mori. with no heirs and the starting part of japan the point of arrival for the earlier mongol invasions, there's not a whole lot to do but get defensive.
i kept noticing hojo creeping up, swallowing everything on his trek westward, but had little chance to do much except worry about mongol invaders. occasionally, i saved up some koku and just bought a mongol banner, but i gt a feeling that using them to take provinces inadvertedly gives money to the mongols for reinforcements (even tho my clan gets the province.) can anyone check on this?

interesting notion, soly. i too would be interested if this is occurring. would put a whole new slant on bribes.

The only absolute is that there are no absolutes.
firstly apologies for a loooong absence...
I playtested extensively and did not notice bribed armies conquests contributing to the Kahn's reinforcements,
When I have my PC up and running I will check and see - try using the ".matteosartori." ?? map reveal cheat when you play and watch whhat the mongol is doing, perhaps he is taking lots of provinces that you can't see?
During the first few years of the campaign the mongols seem to get more mongol for the koku pillaged, as time goes by the number of reinforcements per koku seems to drop - to a point - the problem then is they have so many men that it makes little difference
- you have to hit them early and hard
- you must expand your initial holdings
- and you must - somehow - find a way to conmtain Hojo's expansion...
BTW my favourite variant is the "Special Edition" - ah guns, monks and mongols - what a mix....

Is there something I missed? What is this JDD campaign (JD Daidoji?) That you can pay as clans an mongols at same time? Where can I get it, download section?

Toda, JDD is short for "Japan's Darkest Days". It is the mongol campaign but with multiple clans. You can find it in the "Files"/"Full Campaigns" section under "Baroccas Campaigns". There are three variants of the campaign in the download. See the include readme file details.

Soly, I'm fairly certain that bribed Mongols don't contribute to Khan. In any case, I always upgrade and distribute them amongst my better generals so they bunk in a majority Samurai army. Only towards the end of the game where victory is a foregone conclusion, do I let bare Mongols have a run at whats left of the enemy, and by then Khan isn't getting a single koku from Japan and has long since stopped sending reinforcements.
Oh and thanks to your chastising, I never use muchkoku anymore. LOL
