I am up to year 1433 as the English and have Britain, France and Spain united and productive. I have pots of cash and a half dozen full stack, quality, 5*+ generalled armies waiting to attack...

With so many options I don't know where to start My navy doesn't quite extend as far as the eastern med, and the papacy is providing an excellent buffer between my core and the wars of central europe. I could stampede across north africa to the holy land - risking forces in the desert. Or I could throw all my armies at the acendant Turks and retake central europe for chistendom.

I am not sure whether to do any more crusades - the damn things are more trouble than they are worth - they are fiddly to set up (they pull a scattering of people out of your stacks before you can populate them, and then unlike other stacks they start dissappearing&#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif.

Perhaps just a viscous and sustained onslaught from Croatia to the Holy Land would be a fitting crescendo to my campaign. Chase those damned Turks from God's Earth

Anyhoo, nice job I'd say bypass the Papacy and crush the Turks http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

You are kind of late to be thinking of global domination so I hope you have been playing a GA game. Anyway, 5 stacks isn't nearly enough to make a dent in the world. Start building more stacks like crazy. I try to have 8 teched up provinces so that I can build a new stack every 2 years. This lets me charge into the largest opponent with some confidence that I can win the war. Have fun.

Avoid the desert. Armored Brits don't do so well there. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Whoa too late. I doubt you can even reach Turkey if you dont have enough naval power. Attack Papacy and ally with Turks http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I went for the turks in the end. I was playing the GA game (first campaign I've done) and didn't know where the GA goals were so just got on with my own thing

I thought I wasn't going to win the campaign - but I still found it satisfying. I liberated the holy land and invaded Greece and Asia Minor - sweeping the Turks out and pushing them north of the Black sea. I ended up creating a massive eastern empire and my king finished the game with a very high Influence rating - as well as being a reasonable field general in his own right.

One question - what's with muslim armies? They just try to bore you to death. I just stand there and shoot at them and they run around and around shooting arrows and having the odd prod at me. They seem to rout and return about 5 times per battle - all for what? I attacked and defeated 2,000 of them with 700 men.

I *think* that the CA programmers tried to replicate a tactic that worked quite well in real history for the Muslims, ie feign a route, then turn back and attack. Of course it only works if the other party falls for it, which the crusaders regularly did.

In the game it gets kinda boring though... I wish that the AI didn't rely that much on that single expedient, or better still it could ditch the tactic when it stops working.

look @ your map ,on the right hand side there should be an arrow click on it. now turn on all the boxes and wait a few years then there should be armys appearing in your castles/garrarsons.
