I´ve just seen a preview in a cinema. Its Troy Starring Brad Pitt It looks pretty cool..

Yeah I ve seen it as well.. The whole armada was waay too unrealistic.. It was ridiculously large.. I guess whole population of Troy was much less than the armada shown in the movie.

Although i agree thats a bit too much BUT thats not the troans but the greeks and according to Homer the Authour of the whole movie the whole greek tribes were assembled now the pop of greece could afford IMHO that armada in a smaller extent of course...

Well I cant know the economics of the Greeks, but such a thing cant be real. I mean, whoa If such a force could be drawn, it should have produced a result similar to Vikings

Except we fail to rationalize the situation - limited supply lines = limited campaigns. Vikings were superior raiders specifically for their ability to pillage, something that I would consider the Hellenistic Greeks enjoyed, but were probably not directly motivated by during the Trojan War(s). A fleet as big as shown? Perhaps not of battle-ready Triremes, but of other ships of lesser quality, very well possible.

Who's directing it?

Regardless, supply is one element of the :TW series that has not been addressed in detail. In my opinion, we take our armies to professionally as organisms, whereas they would be much more fluid (specifically during the Medieval period) and comprised of fuedal organizations (free-companies, levies, Family onterages {sp?}, etc, as well as standing household combat troops.

Anyways, I'm very content with the Total War engine, but certain components are not addressed which diminish realism (ok, don't start the sim vs. entertainment debate&#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif.

I think these criticisms of the size of the Greek fleet are failing to recognize this is supposed to be the story from the Iliad. This is a mythic adventure: the story of an angry man, the face that launched a thousand ships, a time when gods walked among men and heros who were more than any mere mortal. Relax, a mythic hero's tale isn't concerned with logistics it's concerned with stories of valor and great deeds.

I saw the Matrix Revolutions last night, Troy was one of the previews. Looks to be good.

Among the previews, Ive noticed a lot of upcoming war movies. There was The Alamo with Bily Bob Thornton and Dennis Quaid, aswell as Tom Cruise's The Last Samarai (looking forward to that), and Troy.
