Hi,

I'm a little confused over the patches available for MTW.
I have MTW but not VI, but may get VI soon.

I have MTW patch 1.1
Is there another patch? The 2.# patch is for VI only, right?
What are the latest version of patches for VI and MTW?

The patches to MTW contained in VI - is there a separate patch that will add these fixes/improvements to MTW, or do you have to buy VI? eg 57year old kings, ability to save at different points, updated ai.

Also what improvements does VI make to the gameplay of MTW?
save game, updated ai, new unit count?, new castle addons?

(Sorry for the silly noob questions - made worse as I can't play the campaign map yet - yes, I have a laptop http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif )

I know it sounds like an absolutely stupid question but I actually am confused.

Hi. There is a patch for the original MTW--I think that is the 1.1 patch you have now (I've only ever downloaded one patch for MTW).
You have to buy VI in order to get the improvements you mentioned, then download the 2.01 patch to fix them. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif It is for VI only.
VI adds the Viking era campaign, a smaller map, simpler units--I've heard some say it reminds them of Shogun as far as the scale and campaign lengths. Some factions get cool units, the Hungarians, Sicilians and Aragonese become playable. Lots of minor changes (don't want to list them all).
I waited until I could find VI for $20, and waited for the patch, and I am glad I bought it. If you are new to MTW, you could probably enjoy the game for quite a while without buying the expansion.

Welcome qtv. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Sorry about the laptop. You are missing out on some good stuff in the campaigns. Do a little searching. The laptop/notebook issue has come up a number of times and some people have been able to do some tweaks to improve how the game runs but I can't recall if they were able to overcome the campaign map problem.
