Has anyone else had this MTW problem which may be related to save games? I have one save game which I overwrite, thus keeping the same save game name all the time. When I resumed a campaign game recently I was being besieged and time was running out. I sent reinforcements to force a battle, but when the battle was resolved I found (victory&#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif I had a large army of my own superior troops outside my fort. It looked as though an old army from a previous game (with the same save file name used) had somehow got mixed up in my new game. The new troops had guns and more advanced troop types than I was entitled to, especially as I was still in early period (and so couldn't get guns anyway). I was using the 1.1 patch.

In addition I found an error.log file in the root directory with a lot of 'can't find file ***.map' messages which perusal of these forums suggest are quite harmless.

Before installing the MTW patch I was getting a lot of sessions where the game would hang and produce a black screen on transfer from the campaign map to the individual battle map. Were these problems solved with the 1.1 patch? Any comments or help appreciated.

Myself, I'd just let the game save to a new year.

You can always delete either thru the game interface or thru windows explorer. No real reason not to have multiple saves, eh? 99 save slots should be used for something, eh?

Myself (with a tendancy for 'quick-saves&#39http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif, yah, I've seen what I consider as 'ghost-saves', where things aren't quite what they were previous to a save. Applies to 'general stats', and similar.

As to error.logs and similar; more info may get better replys, eh?

Krealin?

Anyway: welcome to .org, the hall of lost souls. It's fairly warm here, and lots of other bemused sorts to share your woes with.

Greetings and welcome gamerette. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Did you happen to install the patch right before you started having problems? Did anything else change?

I seem to recall someone else had a similar problem recently but I can't remember if it was resolved.
