Hi folks, what happens if I as say English enter a region
where say the French are besiging the Spanish?

I assume I would fight a battle with the French, what happens if I win? Do I end up besiging the Spaniards?
What if they are Allies of mine?

Thanks, Hobbes

Welcome Hobbes http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

If Spaniards are your allies, you relieve the French siege and the province becomes Spaniard. Spaniards thank you. Happy ending.

If you are neutral with both, you spank the French and siege the castle yourself.

The things may change whether you are fighting the siege maually or autoresolve. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Thanks Cebei, in the later position - I automatically
become at war with the Spanish? What if I withdraw from the province the following turn?

I would think in reality It would make the Spanish very fond of me rather then starting a war even if we were neutral.

Withdrawing would make no difference, you come in you kick out the besiegers but the Spanish still lay claim to their province and then they consider you the invader... So you naturally take up the siege where the other left off.

They will only send you their thanks if you are properly allied with them. But given that all kingdoms have to be crushed in your Iron Fist anyway, you might as well let them go at each other and weaken themselves... Then you'll come in later on and whack the survivors http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Ah, the voice of sweet reason I'd love to help you with your invasion problem, old chap, but I'm too busy watching you SLAUGHTER each other before I step in to mop up, you see. Running the Empire is a complicated business, as I'm sure you can appreciate. By-the-bye, would you have any objection to charging his spears with your knights at every opportunity? Much as the Russian Army did during the late '44 Warsaw Uprising during WWII. The Poles of Warsaw rose up, the Germans fought very hard to put it down while the Russians looked on from across the river.
