Can anyone supply a list of unit support costs? I need them for my unit guide.

The clan Berserk unit stat comparison tool has some support stats listed but they are wrong - it costs 37 florins per year to keep a unit of peasants not the listed 5. The unit_prod files list the same costs as the Berserk tool.

So has anyone got a list of the unit support costs as listed in the campaign game? Or can someone tell me how to twist the costs in the unit_prod files into the real number? I just don't have the time to go through all the units myself in game.

Are you using normal unit sizes in the Campaign game? If you have your units on large or huge that might explain why the supoort costs arn't the same as the Unit-Prod files, cos thses should be correct.

I use the setting above default, large or whatever it is called. However the unit size is not the problem as Bushface (one of my proofreaders in this case) also raised the matter and he always has his units set to default. The unit size will impact the support costs but I wouldn't think that an extra 33 peasants would cost 32 florins more Anyway the 37 florin support cost was an example he gave me from his game to illustrate how wrong the stats were, of course I already knew something was off but this gave me something concreate.

You can easily make a list of support costs with Excel :
1)Open "crusaders_unit_prod11.txt" in WordPad
2)Copy all content
3)Paste into Excel
4)Delete all columns except i)Unit Name, ii)Support cost and iii)Number of men
5)Multiply Support cost with 0.125, and multiply that with Number of men for each unit.
6)Example: peasants; 100 men(on default), support cost 3:
3 x 0.125 x 100 =37.5
7)If you want support costs for varying unit sizes just multiply "Number of men" with percentage increase.

Thank you I haven't got Excel so I'll have to do it the hard way (pen and paper, maybe a calculator) but all the same it should be quicker than digging around in the campaign games.

Thanks http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I'll add you to the credits.

Horrified me too when I saw this.

Norseman you want to do a double check, I did this a while ago and no longer play unmodded MTW so I can't spot any obvious errors.

Wow I go and write a section on Gendarmes and get back to this Thank you, both of you. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I shall use the list Quokka just posted. I shall include the formula from Norseman so anyone crazy enough to want to work out the support cost for different unit sizes can do so. I will add you both to the credits.

I did mean it about the pen and paper you know, I might be mad but I am a dedicated mad person http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif It would probably have come out wrong anyway, numbers and myself do not mix well

Thanks for the link to the free excel viewer, I shall get a copy ASAP. I've also replied to your PM.

I can't see Celtic Warriors anywhere on that list -

In my latest campaign, I kind of stumbled across them by accident - teching Ireland up for the Gallowglass, I suddenly discovered myself able to train Celtic Warriors too - but only in early. As a 100 man unit that's not bad in combat, and with a pitiful support cost of just 25, it seemed like the perfect garrison unit to me - I'd have gone for taking Ireland earlier if I'd known http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Please somebody tell me that I didn't just imagine that? (I can't check as my comp is now seriously unwell - I might have to reformat my HDD ( again ) - losing all my save games http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif )

You are indeed correct, they are only available in Ireland and Wales and only in Early. 100 Highland Clansmen and cheaper to upkeep. Perfect garrison fodder, they are cheaper than peasants, a real gem. These are also missing.

For viking campaigns, the vikings unit prod file has slightly different support structure for at least these units:
peasants: support factor 1 (12 support, 37 in reg camp)
highlanders: sf 2 (15 support, 22 r.c.)
archers: sf 4 (30 support, 37 r.c.)
kerns: sf 2 (15 support, 22 r.c.)
