Whit Rome delayed i was in a way happy that they would have plenty of time making a MP campaign until i stumbled to this description:

Rome - Total War also allows up to 8 players to fight epic battles over a LAN or the internet.

Now if you combine this with smth that happned to me yesterday:

PS: CA this is the spirit of the MAJORITY of RTS players if you want to milk them instead of Blizzard/Ensemble etcetc MAKE A MP CAMPAIGN"

I'd really love a multiplayer campaign. Just because it would't be used that often online doesn't mean it shouldn't be there. I pretty sure that gaming clans would have inner clan wars because they'd be able to organize them. I myself have several friends who'd play a multiplayer Medieval if they could on our LAN.

And for problems like the battles I'd think it should be an option that could be turned on or off :

For the players not involved in the battle maybe they could have spectator mode or something?

Can one of the DEVs reply to this? If there not going to implement a multiplayer campaign I'd at least like to have them give us reasons why or why not.

I know I'm disappointed (although I'm not very surprised) that there will be no MP campaign. My roommates were pretty upset too; we wanted to play against each other. Reality check:

1)some games allow one to do a host server w/the application of server scripts, and those servers are only as good as the hrdwre (anyone who's ever played mechwarrior know about this&#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Got 'Itanium'?

2) Other game producers go the 'massive online' bit. AND charge montly fees.

Seems to me that there isn't much choice as far as any game producer (activision) making this game multiplayer, unless they hear we all wish to pay up for it.

Sorry, but that's my read on the subject. If wishes were horses etc etc

as i see it we have three choices and activision/CA have 4 choices
our choices
1:go to CA and ACTIVISION and beat the living piss out of them saying we want them to make a MP campaign
2:go to CA and ACTIVISION and beat the living piss out of them saying we want the source code released and unencrypted
3:sit here bitching about it for the next 6 months until they release the game

their choices
1:sue us because we beat the living piss out of them
2:release the source code
3:make the campaign multiplayer
4:ignore us (but if we chose 1 or 2 this would mean more pain for them)

Hope may come in the form of a competing game. Sid Meier's CIV line of games have long been lauded as one of the top strategy models of all time. Even Sid realized the benefits of having a MP impact and consequently CIV received an mp expansion. Perhaps we won't get an mp campaign with vanilla RTW, but I think the capabilities built into RTW will dramatically increase the exposure and subsequent demand for the TW series and thereby create a definite necessity for an MP solution. I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see limited MP campaign capability incorporated into the eventual expansion pack for RTW. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

the campaign is the BEST part of M:TW, far better than the battles which themselves are excellent.

it has reached the point where i bought Europa Univeralis 2, and will purchase Victoria: An Empire Under the Sun, to satisfy my desire for a MP campaign.

please do the right thing CA.
