View Full Version : using C in the command line
i believe it is possible to have a hotseat campaign in MTW by using C in the command line. just post how i could go about making it a hot seat campaign
thanks dessa
Dessa;
Use the -ian add to your desk-top shrt-cut, etc;
the 'C' bit is a debug cmd.line order that does the same thing.
-ian works lots better, yields more options. The only part of this I've found special is to remember to 'special name' your saves, especially if your gonna do a pbm.
but when i change factions to another faction the bot will influence my turn won't it?
thanks dessa
Negatory on that.
AI will only influence 'your' faction if you hit ' (apostrophe) first, then 'end turn' or enter (on your key-board).
Go ahead and set up a new shrt-cut, start a new campaign, and test-drive this for yourself.
Works for me, http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Dessa;
I've been using this to do 'auto-runs' to gather info for wes, and the only problems I've had were in GA (which the mod isn't optimised for yet).
My only proviso is that one not change factions during the end-of-turn (AI thinking) screen.
If your 'at rest', as it were, you can change factions freely, view anything pertaining to that faction, and move just like it was that faction's start of turn.
Which it is.
but lets just say im trying to play a campaign with a freind on my computer (just one computer) ive noticed even if you move for two factions whoever you end the turn on is considered the human player and the other is considered a computer so they will still move and make decisions what can i do about this to play multiplayer campaign.

Hmmph
Methinx I'll have to test this myself.
My 1st thought is that both factions need to make thier moves befor 'end-turn'.
If your talking about being able to do the 'tactical' battles as well, I think your 'SOL', tho I do remember something about a 'debug cmd line' for seeing battles, I read that as the 'puter running both sides.
Time to look in your bits box, build another puter, eh?
no i mean on the strategic map the bot seems to move things after you have changed factions to another faction.
thanks dessa
the only technique ive seen so far is to turn AI off compleatley.

well to turn ai off compleatly go into MTW in either c or ian and press I. ai is turned off for all factions they do nothing that means you need to be playing with however many factions there are with that many people.

Dessa why dont we start a MP camp? I mean there only 17 factions so we would need 17 people...Now the problem is that the battles if fought in MP the results of those encounters should be represented on the campmap...Maby if we create a startpos for each turn with all the battles' results on it?Now if only we could open the save game files or create our own.... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

we could just use auto resolve i was playing total war with auto resolve every battle for months anyway auto resolve is the best way i think if we could unencrypt the source code there would be a multiplayer campaign in 2 minutes.

For now i think we could start one PMB in the PMB forum what do you think?
sure go ahead hellenes i will watch and see if it works fluently and see if it can be done again in a better way.
