Battle setup in Viking Invasion

This is a sort of "wishful thinking" question. In the battle setup screen in a Viking Invasion SP campaign game there's the obvious tweaking that can be done to change your forces on the map and what's in the reinforcement queue, but there's also an image of a camera panning around the battlefield. My question is this: does the timing of when you click "Command this battle" affect your starting position on the map? That is to say, does it help to survey the battlefield, spot the best defensive position (for example), and then start the battle at the precise instant when your force would end up at that end of the map?

I've played around with it without coming to any firm conclusion, so I'm curious what others might think. Am I just imagining it when I get the impression that I'm getting better locations?

That's a nice idea, but I'm afraid it's only an idea, and you get placed randomly.
