Hae dudes http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

My little prob is this, my girlfriend & I want to play a co-op game where we can fight together against various comp controled armies - but as far as I can see this seems impossible http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif lan games only seem to allow for player vs player - is there any way for possibilty to play 2 human players allied against say 1-2 comp players??

I can't answer your question, but I just wanted to stand in awe of you for a moment. You got your girlfriend to want to play? wow. My wife HATES this game. She does'nt understand why I play it. Oh well her favorite game is prince of persia http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

hehe thanx dude - my g/f & I have simliar tastes in games, so we often play together :-) though i'm kinda annoyed we can't team up together to bop some french

on another note is there a strategy guide out for viking invasion - i know there is a mtw one out but with all the changes it seems a little outdated now?

Hello there, yes I think it's not possible to team up if you are just two players. You need two (or one) more human player(s) to make a team battle.
How about if the both of you go online and play the multiplayer game via gamespy? Then you could play as many 2v2s as you want? And against real people too http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif (shameless ad)

About the strat guide, I'm not sure if there's one out for VI, but why not? In the meantime, I think you can find a lot of useful info about the game here at the .org.. Enjoy

My wife would love to play this game in a teamming mode as well. She likes these types of games for the campaign map and country management.

We played Lords of the Realm 2 for about 3 years in head to head mode with CPU opponents - the only rule she had when she played against me was AUTOCALC the battles... hehe

I wish that the ability to play 2 humans on a LAN AGAINST the cpu in a campaign existed in this game.

Oh well. Lords of the Realm 3 is nearly out. It won't be anywhere near as intense as this game but at least I can play against my wife again.

hehe thats cool that your wife also love playing rts game - def a shame we cant play multi-player camps http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

on a sad note i tried playing mtw online - have a gamespy account - so went to the log in screen - typed in my details & clicked continue only to be hit with i didn't panic as i thought i'd prob hit a wrong letter or something, but after several trys usning both my original mtw cd key & VI key i was still getting an invalid cd key error http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif only things i have done is instal a no cd patch http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif & instaled blind king of bohemias mod so looks like i'll never get the chance to be slaughtered online - hehe as i'm a really bad player http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif

ah Lords of the realm 2 - such memories http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

seems we are in the same situation locherbread - I cannot get onto gamespy with my cd key - and I have a feeling that it is because of the no cd patch - but I am fearful to unpatch it because of the fact that my cdwriter drops off the bus if it isnt used within 20 minutes or so of booting - so rather than install a slower player or go through the pain of trying to have it replaced since i think its a problem affecting this brand of writer, I just started installing cd patches until I get a dvd burner. but somehow I kind of like the idea of never having to use the disc.

Hm... there have been numerous reports of trouble with the CD-keys, if I remember correctly, but most were fixed by either multiple tries or it was discovered that some letters were mistyped. Especially there was confusion whether it is the letter o or a zero. I suggest trying both first. Also caps no caps might make a difference..
Lastly, there should be some advice in one of the pinned topics, take a look at that or do a search, because I definitely think your CD key should be valid.
However, you will probably not be able to play MP games with a mod installed unless other persons in the MP lobby have the same mod installed. And that is rather unlikely as most peeps use the basic 2.01 game.
If you have HD space, I suggest installing VI a second time, and using this install to go online.
