I have a question.

I am playing Shogun TW Warlord... I am playing the Uesugi, and have eliminated the Imagawa, Takeda and Hojo.

I have all the lands to the north, with my borders being Kaga, Hida, Shinano and Totomi, with a foothold as well in Owari and that coastal state next to it.

My allies, the Oda have a few lands left, and the rest is conquered by the Shimazu. So I am wondering how to aid my allie, as I would like to save him...and give myself time to build up forces quickly... I can not send in relief armies it seems. Yet he has helped me out twice (once he did do nothing (unfortunately), the other time he set the enemy up for a smashing flank and rear attack by my troops (I had to run to get into the fight http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ), so and with a few troops it seems I can muster sufficient forces to save him.

So is there any possibilty to help him out ?

It looks like you'll have to send troops via port...

Unfortunately there is no option to send troops to aid your ally. I wish there was but it seems the only way you can help your ally is to attack, via port as Shinano says, your allies enemy. Now you will hold a province that he may help you defend again http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Chances are they will call a treuce and then you will your ally may become his ally....... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif
Great fun

If you attack a province where your ally is being besieged and drive the besieger from it, you can immediately withdraw your army on the next turn and your ally will not declare war on you. I have done this many times.

The problem is, the AI usually doesn't have your ally send more troops to bolster that province's defenses, so the enemy often just attacks again, and again ... .

I only do this when I've pretty much dominated the area and am feeling nice. Oftentimes my ally has a 5 or 6-star general or two and some decent troops left that I'd like to inherit, and my geishas are busy elsewhere for the time being ... . http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
