Hi, How can I train AHC unit with Byzantine Faction?
AHC is a Turkish unit (I don't know why...) but maybe there's a way to modify it.

I'm pretty sure that, with the unmodified version of MTW and MTW/VI, only muslim factions can build Armenian Heavy Cavalry. To change this you'll probably need to mod the game.

Look in the Crusader_prod11 file

it contains the stats and availability of the units

note: these files differ if they're MTW 1.1 and MTW VI

the things u need to change - but it is best to do this with the program Gnome Editor - the following:

a) faction availability
EGYPTIAN, TURKISH in 1.1 and FN_EGYPTIAN, FN_TURKISH in VI
Change it to:
FN_EGYPTIAN, FN_TURKISH, FN_BYZANTINE or just FN_BYZANTINE of u want.

b) culture (from MUSLIM to MUSLIM, ORTHODOX or exclusively ORTHODOX)

While the Armenian Heavy Cav is good for making peasant soup but they aren't really an ideal late game unit.

I swear they are the slowest mounted troops in the game - they get torn up by mounted archers and have serious trouble catching other mounted fleeing units.

I personally stop making them after the golden horde show up.

Greetings Alexios I Comnenos http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

It looks like Kataphraktoi has solved your dilemma for you, let me just add that AFAIK when you make a change to one of the prod files you have to begin a new campaign in order to see the changes take effect. Give it a whirl and let us know. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

I don´t know if it´s true for all changes, but when I modify for example the size of a unit or it´s prize, then the modifications show up immediately with all new units built after the change.
