First of all the whole attack defend thing is a little boring now.
Idea: Why not have an option that randomizes which team attacks and which team defends that way all areas of the maps would be used as either team could be defender and either team could be attacker, obviously picking defender and attacker should still be an option as well.
Right now we have victory and thats all.
Idea: Just a minor change again why not have a complete victory and minor victory award calculated by losses on each side.
Player ladder.
Idea: Please ca reinstate this i have ideas on how it could be calculated but ill post them later.
Ill be posting more ideas later, please feel free to add your own guys.
Some feedback from the ca team as to whether or not these ideas were viable would be most appreciated.

Pitched battles would be cool, like the AI sends you a message saying meet at rome in 23BC for a good old battle and we can be home in time for tea. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif
I want more units on the battlefield.. Crowded battles and fog-of war

well i have an idea that could compensate for a lack of MP campaign, there are shortcomings however, basically we draw the map and see who wants to participate, then we arrange for the battles, you know much like an RPG game but with MP..

How about a player profile recording wins and losses and the percentage between these two factors?
And an official ladder, made by CA... I can't stand all these GameSpy servers, we need all servers to be like bNet.. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

That actually sounds like a great idea They used to do this in Japan early in the Sengoku Jidai period.(Sp?) It would feel awesome marching towards the field knowing you will be fighting in an honorable challenge. It would be even cooler if you could also challenge the enemy. I think that if you challenge an enemy to battle it shouldn't be counted as going to outright war; only an isolated battle. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Definitely not being able to see the unit features from the other edge of the field. We should be allowed only to see the outline of the units and not their info when we bring the mouse on them until they are in a certain distance. This is why scouts existed, and its a crucial part of a battle.

I think there should be different kinds of battles.
1. King of the Hill - Just what it says. 4 players begin with one in each corner. There is a massive hill in the middle of the map and everyone has to battle to the top of the hill and defeat the others on the way up. There would be no advantage in field position as each player has equal opportunity to race up the hill.
2. Capture the flag - Up to 8 players in team play. Each side has a very small clearly marked area to defend. The game is decided when one team maintains a presence in the others "goal" for a set period of time.
3. Regicide - Up to 8 players no teams. Each player has one extremely powerful "king" unit that he has to defend. Players are eliminated when their king is killed.
4. Last Man Standing - Up to 8 players. Battle until only one player is left.
So forth and so on. I really like the idea of no teams or multiple teams as it increases the intrigue and backstabbing. It's kind of like attacking a province and having a neutral force invade at the same time. You don't know for sure what is going to happen. The way MP is set up now is so predictable, you know exactly who is going to be your enemy and can't count on unexpected help. There are no surprises. I think including different game types will breathe new life into the TW MP side of the game at least until CA RELEASES THE MULTIPLAYER CAMPAIGN ADD ON FOR RTW THAT WE ALL KNOW THEY ARE WORKING ON. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
give us a friggin campaign for gods sake.
thanks dessa
