I have been enjoying BKB's Super MOD. It is clearly the most challenging MOD out there. The additional factions make the game MUCH more difficult (and that is good&#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif. I do have a couple of questions/observations:

1. The Swiss and Burgundians do not appear to emerge in the MOD. The Golden Horde does. From a historical How can these be activated to emerge?
2. Really like the addition of some factions -- the Cumans, the Navarre, the Genoese. The addition of the Scots and the Welsh make playing the English much more challenging.
3. In my opinion -- the MOD would be better served however if factions were included for the Swedes (replacing the Norwegians), the Lithuanians (replacing the Valencians), the Prussians (Baltic tribes replacing the Croats). Historically Croatia was controlled by Hungary, Norway was controlled by Denmark, and Valencia was a mish-mash of small states. Is there an easy way that this could be done?
4. Region control feedback -- Historically, Naples should be part of Sicily (conquered by the Normans b4 start). Anatolia, Nicaea, Trebizond, and Jerusalem should be Turkish, and Georgia should be rebel (post Mazikert). Denmark should be Danish. Bohemia should be part of the HRE (nominally independent but it had previously revolted and was occupied by imperial troops). Serbia should be controlled by the Byzantines. The HRE was a loose confederation, if Venice and Genoa are independent, then so should the Duchy of Burgundy. The Cumans should be located in Peresalyl, Chernikov, and Rylan (spelling?) (The Vlach occupied Moldavia during this period, and the Uzes occupied Volhyvia and Wallachia). Armenia was under firm control by the Turks. Lesser Armenia however was independent. Valencia should be an Islamic state/culture. El Cid himself was Catholic but the region of Valencia was Islamic.

Venice and Genoa were countries in their own right as was most of Italy, such as Piedmont, Pisa and Milan to name a few.

Burgundy was part of the HRE and was never fully indepent though acted as if it was in the 14th and 15th centuries.

Hi Turbo, sorry about the lateness of the reply http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
The Swedes were going through a Civil war in the early period. In early Norway was independent from Denmark, the lithuanians were not a strong , independent force in early, Bohemia should not be part of the HRE and only partially recognised the The king of the Germans and Croatia was only unioned with the hungarians in 1102. I might replace Valencia some where down the line. Remember this is only early, feel free to visit the website to see high and late. I'm a bit busy at present but will answer the rest of the question later http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Hi BKB,

Do the Swiss or Burgundians emerge in the MOD? I love the MOD but miss them "popping" in.

BTW,
in my opinion this MOD is light years ahead of anything else out there. Not only are the graphics good, but the new factions create a realism not found in the original. With the new factions, revolts are frequent, and going to war with a faction raises new concerns about how many allies there are. I had 8 factions go to war with me as the HRE just by attacking Bohemia. The power of excommunication and crusade is awesome. No fewer than 5 crusades were launched against me shortly after the pope and i fell out. Sending spies out, I was amazed that the pagan Cumans had overrun much of eastern europe and the middle east.

Great mod, keep it up

Thanks for the kind words Turbo. The Burgundians and Swiss don't appear, sorry about that.
I know it gets bloody difficult with the new factions. The poor HRE had it bad enough but now they have the Bohemians and Croatians to deal with( with the Cumans probably invading in later years). The HRE will be strengthened for the final release, as will the English and certain others that take a good hammering from the crowded map.
The Cumans do get very strong and really battle it out with the Hungarians but seem to be on good terms with the Byzantines most of the time and like fighting Kiev.
I haven't played the game in 4 weeks and am simply dying to play.
When i get to my computer next week i willbe making a few new units. I like the ones suggested by Lazul with the Swedish units and will make a few( if its alright with him http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif )

Here are some of the fixes to some of BKB super Mod's really annoying bugs, the worst of which in my opinion is the no portrait found bug.

THE "no portrait found" BUG fix:

You run across this bug during marraige proposals (usually Catholic). The game errors but play will continue if you press 'ok'.

I found the easiest way to fix the portrait bug is by disabling the portrait overide in the super.txt campaign file and adding 50 portraits in the /campmap/portraits/catholic/princess directory. You can copy the first 50 and rename them 101-150. To get the override to work, you will need to increase the portraits to 150 for the viking catholic princesses and increase the default to 150. I also noticed late in the game there is a similar bug with the emissaries so I increased them as well.

THE BATTLE FLAG BUG Fix (The problem is identified the fix isn't):

The wrong faction flag appears during battles for the AI. Most usually this is either the Papal flag or the Irish flag.

The bug involving the wrong faction flag is due to an error in the LOC files -- a missing entry for one of the new factions. The game uses whatever entry corresponds to the faction number. If there are too few or they are out of order, then it will "default" to one particular flag. The problem lies in the Names.Txt however the entries are a mess and it is no easy task trying to sort through the misc factions. Playing around with the file I was able to change the type of default flag but could not get the correct battle flag to appear.

BKB might solve these problems by removing unused factions from the Names.Txt.

THE EMISSARY WARP BUG

In general all entries for faction names and leaders need to add up to 31 (30 + the rebels). Some of the emissary errors like talking to the Polish but having the emissary/princess end up at Rome are due to missing entries.

An example of this is in the following file:
Default_faction_specific_early.txt -- the croatian entry needs to be added after the Kievan in the category "@"factions_special_xzy"]. Prior to this fix, your emissary would teleport to Rome or elsewhere after proposing an alliance.

Hope this helps.
