Boring...it's not the game, it's those who play it.

You guys are not gonna belive me, but the olde server is going off. The other night we had 20 peeps on at one time, and I think we all had a good evening. Credit really goes to Insane Clan, who seem to have revitalised the server.

Servers MUST be combined ---

I have several reasons for this decline.

Existing players are being driven away due to some player antics, such as foyer spam and general rubbish. For today i was mocked for losing LOL.

Between Mi and M:TW, there are several bettr stop gap games out that people are playing with a bit more cababilities for online etc. There are so many battles you can play with the same people in a small cmmunity.

Suggestion

Merge servers.....too expensive who at EA would be bothered to do that.

Wait to M:tw which alot of people are doing as i left the MP foyer to post this i left 10 PEOPLE on line at 7:30 uk time.

there are 2 main reasons why any game 'dies'. you win too much or you lose too much. you could also include a third one, i've seen it all, done it all.

i played a LOT of railroad tycoon II. i could beat anyone in that game. thus, there's no more real game there for me. it just becomes an exercise and a boring one at that. in stw/we/mi i'm just the opposite, i lose too many, thus the frustration factor mounts till you go into despair and give it up. i continued playing because i'm also a map maker and loved seeing my maps used and getting comments on those, but frustration mounts up there as well as few actually seem to play on the custom maps. and the third point of doing all, seeing all also has set in. god, i dont ever want to see another game on totomi! i will never visit japan just because i might have to visit totomi. ;)

there's prolly a 4th reason that accounts for game decline also. folks like to contribute to things. they have certain things about the game they disagree with or would like to see changed or added, and so they post on this forum or another, but nothing happens. eventually the frustration factor sets in that way as well and they quit trying. knowing that they'll never see any of these changes, they also quit the game because they are in disagreement with something and cant effect a change. so they give it up.

if you look back over this forum i think you'll see that the most active times were when the dev guys were about to release something. there was anticipation. would this be changed, would that be changed, would they include my suggestions for improvement in the game? the release would hit, they're would be praises and complaints and things would die off again. a few times there'd be a spurt of new ideas posted around the same time.

i know of several games that when the company quits supporting it, the game dies, almost to the day. just boom! it's like someone turned off a switch.

and then there's the old thing about nobody likes hash for every meal. sometimes we just want something with a different flavor. we've eaten hash for 365 days, let's try something else. sorry CA, i prolly shld have said steak instead of hash ;) even steak gets tiresome :)
