Repent all ye Simmers

Ok a thread nearby invites you to confess your other game habits and I suspect that
there are a whole bunch of people out there who are Simming in secret.

I will just come out a say, yes I have Flight Simmed for years, Falcon 4, F18, Flanker....
and fed my psycho side to excess. But its been leavened with ATC Sim, Harpoon 3
great fun with Madden NFL . HEY this TW scene is the bussiness - particularly MP.
I ghost at pres. until I can rock A hell of a lot of, YES I will say it, FUN.

For me it brings together all the above game threads, strategic planning, resource allocation,
tactics, quick thinking , a rush of adrenalin, elation/ disappointment (the gamut) analysis of
tactics, study of gameplan. And I just like to '' Cut heads '' (Quote). And the people - well
you know what you are like (Me too &#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif I love this game

But I take my fun seriously - I can only suspend dibelief for so long and it doesnt stretch to
the SS (Steroid stomping) Chivs - I mean come on. Looks as if I will find more in common
with the 5K people, but I might still let my hair down and party with 99'rs, (after a few beers)

Would love to see RTW with a clickable Mini-map showing a clear simplified icon representation
of unit location. The so sloooow Harpoon marries group and unit placement cleverly.
Course I just want an Aegis, Weapon Officer screen (Xmas &#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I hope CA does'nt go too far from the the feel of the original STW; the flyweight boxers,
with the stalking, quick footwork, lightning strikes.... Are we now at middleweight
and on the way to a heavyweight slug fest ?

What about adding-in other mobile units with high impact on morale like Bands ( Highland pipes
please, to scare those bxxx camels) Flag carriers, Drummers - give you a headache to police them
Camp followers and the static(?) train. Even the 'Forlorn Hope ' (insurgent band) success or failure
would impinge on morale. Just a thought to regain fluidity.

TC shows great promise - OK the purists scoff at the 'hams' but its entertaining for all and will
pull in extra punters for us here. Love to see an Aegis screen that all the players could see
with cuts to the 3D . Live 2 v 2 would be great and the occasional pros. 'Real' people used
to handling real pressure, like firecrews, nurses, police, Services personnel. But you know lifes
funny, theres been some surprising good performers. Like to see these elected by viewers
for a play-off. What about that netball (?) team - OK better not go there Just say my wife is
showing too much interest in this game - Wants to play Boadicea (or Boudicca as the
aspirant Eddy La Mere would say. (Note to Guv Gen. BBC Eddys an ideal Pom for Aussie Rugby
project. We know who to send ).

Are there any Simmers out there ? - COME ON OUT

simmers means flight simulator gamers. I used to play Microsoft Flight Simulator 3: Battle for Europe, a lot. But I kind of forgot about it. I left it at my Dad's in Scotland, however. Maybe I'll go play it when I get up there.

I'm trying to get into IL2, but I'm not very coordinated with a joystick and the Nazis keep wasting me. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif One of these days I will free the motherland though http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

The only flight sims I enjoy are the X-Wing and TIE Fighter series, and Operation Flashpoint (OF = luv)

only sim here is Xwing Alliamce. Or maybe taking over a plane in BF1942. Tried out F22 lightning 3 but was overwhelmed in the training. I don't want to play a sim that has more controls than a real aircraft. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I used to play old sims like Dogfight, Aces of the Pacific, Dawn Patrol, Batlle of Britain. Though the graphics weren't so great back then, the gameplay was.
Besides that, I played the WingCommander series and lately a little Freelancer, although that's hardly a sim.

I started my romp through flight simulators back in the old days of the SNES in the early 90s. Wings and Wings II: Aces High were some of my favorites (Wings II still is fun, but I dont have it anymore http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif). The earliest flight sim I've played on the computer was Red Baron by Sierra, and I immidiately fell in love.

Yep those old bi-plane dogfights were great fun - who cared in those days if you could'nt count the cows.
Gameplay triumphed over graphics.

Used to have lot of laughs on my old Amiga 1200 - still cant bear to part with it
