There is something in MTW that is a bit troublesome in my opinion.
It's the grafical (and stats) diference in missile type units (able to use two kinds of weapons), and the inhability of melee units to use two different weapons.

I'll elaborate...

For instance, why can't Knights use a lance for a charge and then a sword for close combat?
Why are Templars limited to charging with a sword??? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif and not a lance?
Why can´t other Knights use the lance and in close combat the sword?

Does anyone have any idea why?
Lack of time on CA's part?
Too complicted programing?

Any sugestions?...

good question because its a fairly well known fact that lances would generally break on the first charge (and if they didnt they were no good for close combat anyway)

I mean, give a cavalry units first charge of the battle a bonus, and after that, less of a bonus because they are using their swords. simple solution really, who knows why they didnt put it in.

Quite right

I would think it would be simple enough, since skirmisher units can have a double attack (bow then sword/axe).

Is it something to do with the unit animations?
More work involved?

I will have been more realistic but might take too much system resources on minimun req pc. It wont be no prob on top end gaming rig but for the masses ? Might be business strategy.
