This is a site well worth a visit while you twiddle your toes waiting for RTW.
Excuse me if I'm at the back of the queue as I havent cared for the Romans since I was force-fed Latin.

I think you will have a long wait for RTW, I am betting on 2005.

well i think it will be here in 2002 the only reason for the delay is CA are having trouble perfecting the time machine so that they can release it last year :-)

So you are saying they are going to have it 'pre-released'??? Like wars 'pre-erupting' in the hilarious universe of Douglas Adams?
Well then I might just as well stop my education as my whole faculty will get closed down soon (history).

I give RTW about 7 months before it is bought out by Microsoft, converted for play on Xbox only, and sold in 2006 as a first-person shooter starring Cleopatra.
Better start working on your Asp Rifle skills
In fact, a "worst things that could possibly happen to RTW thread" could be quite funny. Maybe someone could start one.
Come on Konga... I just know you would love to run around and chuck javelins and little rocks with your sling at a phalanx of hoplites.

It'll be released when Duke Nukem Forever is.

I've heard rumours that Rome: Total war's concepts have been changed due to a change in the Creative Assembly's staff.
It will now be released on the X-Box, as a go-kart game. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pissed.gif

I call on you all to resist this. Prevent great games of substance from becoming dumbed-down, console-only adolescent playgrounds. Prevent your modified, custom-built computers of incredible processing might from turning into a screen on a stick connected to a box the size of a canned ham. Prevent the PC from becoming an internet appliance whose capabilities are limited to downloading spyware and advertising.

Kongamato,
we could have used your help with Fallout 3 being cancelled and a console Fallout title being made instead... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

RTW now includes units of Gauls, who are invincible because of a magic potion and attack your Roman units with hilarious results. And a bard that's sings terrible. And everytime your legions conquer Gaul, you get the message 'You have conquered Gaul. The whole of Gaul? No, one little village....'
and you can throw menhirs.
