Weather affects certain weapons, e.g. rain decreases the effectiviness of bows and gunpowder weapons. Does rain or any other weather phenomenon have any infulence on inherent castle defences? (I mean on those defenders who are shooting from walls and towers.) Thanks

Yes it does.
So always try to attack castles on a rainy day http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I think they are but rain also effect the fatigue of your troops, they will tire faster in rain, and I think it has a small effect on art as well. So you both have disadvantages
The castle defences are inside so it's only the rain that hit the arrow that effects it if the archers are outside the bows get affected (this is real, I don't know if this is implemented in the game)
