Theredlemming... Gregoshi, KukriKhan, Lord Of Storms and MonkeyMan regularly evaluate the members and promote those that have demonstrated their ability to mix in well with all the other nutcase's that are here already. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Like the rest of us, they are unpaid volunteers that do not sit permanently online waiting for people to promote/demote/warn/ban http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif... you might have been a bit hopeful that they would reply within half an hour.

Oh... any shameless plug for promotion is acceptable they provide comic relief.

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Greetings taoistlumberjak and welcome to the Entrance Hall. What was your grandpa trying to say? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif
As for promotions, Rob is correct, we aren't online 24x7x365. For example, due to the Thanksgiving holiday, I'd been offline for 3 days. Work, exams, personal situation, PC problems, etc. do interfer with our promotion process. The more you post in the less elapsed time also makes it seem longer than it is. Lastly, if a JP posts anything that approaches the borders of the forum rules or exceeds them, we usually opt to observe that individual a little longer than the typical JP just to make sure the incident is not the norm for that individual. Common incidents are hacking/piracy issues, flaming/abusive posting, and profanity/inappropriate images. Often the when of a promotion is a matter of good/bad timing. If you have specific questions or concerns about your status, you can always contact us privately via email (we don't bite contrary to popular legend http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif ). I hope that clarifies the situation.

I think they shouldnt promote too soon man. I became a junior member only after about a month, so just have some patience and stop bugging the moderators since they know what they are doing. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/shock.gif

It never hurts to ask. I have overlooked new patrons in the past. By that I mean I put their name on a list I keep in Excel as I meet them for the first time. However, sometimes I get distracted before I add them to the list. Just last night I realized that I hadn't put SicilianVespers on my list.
As for a sense of humour, I have been enjoying red I hope I'll be promoted before my life ends at 40 lemming's promotional campaign. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

You play all night and you work all day... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif
You have to know the rules your company lives by. If policy is a yearly review and raise then no. If you are at a lower level of the ladder then generally no. If you are salary then it is possible. But you must have a good reason....present your case well and show how you have helped add to the profitability of the company.

I remember when I was waiting for that promotion. My brother too. As far as time and such goes, I've seen people get theirs in a day so nothing is impossible.

Nice thread. Maybe somewhat spamming... Notice that I'm just an old enough member to have escaped the entrance hall. That last thing is a must. It filters trolls efficiently. The lone bad thing I see is that the entrance hall has faaaaaaar too much interesting topics, compared to some other castle rooms.....
Therefore, I never gave up the entrance hall. Too much good things from the best newcomers. And the worse ones are fleeing because of the filter

I think it would be annoying for mods if people started asking for promotions. (And contrary that has been claimed here earlier, I DO believe that the mods would bite eventually http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif )
That said, however, I understand those who want to get promoted to senior patrons http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif It is annoying to read a good discussion outside the entrace hall but not be able to participate. So I think it is not bad manner to ask for promotion as a junior patron. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Especially so because the aim of the junior patron 'institute' seems to be weeding out the obvious spammers, offenders and idiots.
Quote[/b] ] Promotion to Senior Patron
There is no set number of posts or time limit for promotion to Senior Patron. /.../ We can promotion a Junior Patron based on one well constructed, informative post or, more typically, at least four multi-sentence posts.
I've asked for all of my promotions, in one case the check was already in the mail, but I asked anyway. Just be nice about it and keep in mind that this isn't the mods job they don't actually get paid for it, only glory and accolades.

We mods are human (despite the rumours) and we do overlook people every now and then. So it doesn't hurt to inquire about your status.
