I think that's what they are called. but they throw javlins before going into hand to hand combat.. okay with that said. How do u use these guys. they dont throw. I click on the targot but then they always back up and act like theya re gonna do something but then dont. any ideas?

They dance back because they are on skirmish by default. Put them on engage at will (E). IMHO they are difficult to use, they have a very short range, thus they demand a lot of micromanangent.

i've found putting them on hold/hold helps them to heave their sticks, but they get tore up in melee, ya gotta take em off hold/hold to engage them as a sword (very weak)unit.

like lionel said, lotsa micromangement, but it's fun to take obscure units as the game can get boring with the same armies over and over, and if it's just a friendly game, then no harm, no foul.

They should have made an option for the to just throw one round and then charge with enough time to get a full charge bouns in. Or atleast made thier range longer and more deadly. As of right now they are pretty much worthless, for me anyway.

The skirmishers in stw:mi were better balanced i think.

GlassHeart was very good at using them at one time. I think the patches have reduced their power or increased other cav units' power in comparison, making them obsolete and not a very good buy for the money.

Jinetes

Cost....Speed.......Bonus........Armor...Honor.....Ammo
250.....9/24/26......2/2/2...........3...........2..........4

are not fast (values pretty standard for walk, run, charge speeds), have low charge, attack, defence, and honor (AKA morale), and they get four shots. Each of those four shots can cause more damage than a single volley of cav archer fire, but overall these are pretty weak units.

As Cheetah said, put on engage-at-will, since the range at which they retreat in skirmish mode is farther than their javelin range (kinda like Naptha guys in that respect).

Use em as cheap cav to harass enemy pavs, or to flank the line. Sometimes they are fun, like T1 says, to use, like against Pikemen; drives the AI or human opponents crazy 'cause they stay just out of reach.

A definite high micromanagement unit, but one that I enjoy when playing as the Spanish.

In the Early era, I do not feel safe without Fast-rated cavalry of some sort. Cavalry archers like the Szekely need to be deterred or countered in some way, and I prefer to use Fast-rated cavalry like Jinetes to achieve this. I also like to use them against enemy Archers, and they do quite well at this. They are not as good as Alans or Hobilars, but they still get the job done with good speed.

In a SP campaign, Jinetes are quite important early on, but in MP they don't have much going for them. You could pick them for the flavour, but in competitive games you'll waste unit space by selecting them for your army.
