5. you have long hair and are older then 30 but dont own a bike ( as in motorcyicle)
6. you play role playing games.
7. you like to think about what ya gonna do in a game rather then a click click type game.
8. Your to lazy to cheek ya grammer and spelling, but your fellow geeks actually understand what you have said.
9. you like theatre or like classical music
10... your reading this.. then you are a geek http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Good Job Vlad - my list looks like this:
1. When you play games with historical meaning you use an historically correct character name.
2. You post at websites concerning your favorite game, mostly about your political or religious views, but frequently about the advantages and disadvantages of a particular aspect of the game.
3. You have the latest patch, mod, and screensaver, and are working on one of each of your one.
4. You have at least one online nemesis, someone with whom you actively engage in verbal combat (no matter how subdued and masked).
5. Those keys on your keyboard that are commonly used for the historical game mentioned above are darker than other, less used keys.
6. Your computer has been upgraded and maxed out to improve gameplay to the point that the electro-magnetic energy it emits can sterilize all forms of life within a 10meter radius.
7. Your idea of a date is to hook up online and play the game with a teammate of the (allegedly) opposite sex.
8. You cannot wait for the Rome version of your favorite game (see #1 above) so your write your own code.
9. You create lists of why you are a geek (even tho someone else already did that!http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
10. You are trying to get to 500 posts so you can have a custom avatar

Geeks dont like theatre or classical music. They like Star Trek and Trance music. I know I do. ^_^
But yes, I enjoy Bach mixed in with a little Mozart.
EDIT: Nerds enjoy theatre and classical music. :P

My proofs of being a geek:
- Moderating a gamer forum
- Engaging in philosophical debates on the same gamer forum
- WRITING ESSAYS ON STATISTICAL PROCEDURES JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT

*looks at desk*
11 empty cans of soda - 7 coke, 4 RC.
4 Empty bttles of Guiness Extra Stout
6 empty packs of smokes
2 full ashtrays
that's only the beginning *Gasp* and I'm only 25
what are my proofs?
1: You spend most of your work hours browsing a gaming forum.
2: You repeat #1 only at home this time.
3: You are the leader of an online team of people you have never met.
4: You begin to say things like w00t and i own you in RL conversation.
5: You have moded your favorite game to be more challenging to yourself and you constantly search for ways to improve its gameplay, even though you are getting beaten at every turn as it is.
6: You start having dreams about a certain Roman Version of a certain game.
and finaly...
7: You take a month out of what little life you have to write a story about a game you played, just because you felt like it.
:sighs loudly: i am all 7 of those ^ ... can't say i'm not happy though http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'm at university. I could be out getting horribly drunk. I'm not. Why? I am... sady somewhat of a geek. Please shoot me now.
My desk had many bowls of cereal on it (empty, no peculiar growths) but I try and police that stuff up when I think people are coming over.
But then again, those people may just be in my head.

5. Watch Historical Movies
6. Have history channel on my preset TV channel list
7. Listen to Classical Music
8. The Rest of the Room is clean, but the Desk is a mess
9. Read 500+ page books

You are here, therefore you are already a geek. Now that is not necessarily a bad thing. You may have been in denial all this time.
BTW, welcome to the Org. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif ...now you've been knighted a geek (by a geek). http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

You've got to love anoraks, like me, or you aint in the geek club. I just looorve them in all styles .
I just cant resist them - if I get dragged round the shops I usualy sidle off to Dixons (Elec. goods) but then its off to see the gear. Boadecia and the Great White Shark (Mother in Law) swooped into a shop last week, just as I was at the point
of purchase - just said ' Oh NO not another one ' - dragged me out leaving open mouthed shop assistant. Gah - where's that
poll on 30+ grumpies

Game Over!!!

You guys are bringing a tear to my eye. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif The 'good old days' are long gone for me...playing all weekend long and staying up til 4 am saying just one more turn then I'll go to bed. Now I'm married, have kids, job, mortgage, etc. The only time I get to play all day now is if I'm sick.
On the otherhand it just makes the time I get now and then to play games a little more cherished. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

You can certainly call yourself a geek when you faithfully play games that are five to fifteen years old, extremely buggy, wont work right on modern OSs, and looks only slightly better than a bunch of cardboard cutouts taped to your monitor.
Yes, I enjoy playing Stronghold and, the single best RPG ever, Daggerfall (nevermind the fact that it was one of the first mainstream games to feature full nudity, male and female, and highest bug-count of any game, except Battlecruiser 3000AD)

My roommate and I are such geeks, we spent A WHOLE HOUR last night deciding what pizza to order. Why, you ask? Because we calculated, in square inches per dollar, which size pizza or special offer would be the most cost effective.
In the end, we managed to purchase our pizza at a delicious 25 square inches per dollar. If we had not done this, we could have gotten as little as 17 square inches per dollar.
If that does not convince you, up untill about a month ago, whenever one of us told the other about something that had happened to them that day, we had to ask if it was in the real world or in the world of Morrowind, the rpg with which we were both borderline obsessed with at the time.
Oh yeah, I'm an engineeing major and my girlfreind thinks I'm nuts.
1)You either learned to write in Elvish after reading Tolkien, or are learning to speak Klingon (guilty of the first)
2)Your idea of the perfect x-mas present for the wife is rebuilding her puter.
3) You worry more about getting your puter out of the house in case of fire, than you do about about removing anything else.
4) Your puter room has it's own bath-room, and a fridge under the table for drinks.
5) You know exactly what you'ld do with a money wind-fall, and so does the local electronics store.
6) You spend up to 13 hrs at a whack in front of your puter, and thats OK, as you've got a custom desk chair so it doesn't hurt.
7) You wear bifocal glasses that you had ground so that the optimum range matches the distance to the monitor.
8) You can touch-type in only the light of your monitor, including the hot-keys for MTW.
9) You ran a seperate circuit from the main electrical box just to insure good power to the puter room.
10) You realize that you've got it all, as the wife thinks that your puter gaming is fine as she does it too
Wow man, now we are getting into david letterman territory
