A big battle?.?!?!

hey all

i think i posted this topic before, but now im not so sure,so im postin it again...anayway to the chase

right now im playing the English, an ive decided to launch a crusade against the Alhomands, to the province of Valencia, i was albe to take the province, but now im defending against a large and army army of about 4000 Alhomands..

ive played through this battle a couple of times, and it seems that every time i play the Alhomand urban militia unit chews through all my troops all the time, the troops being chrivalric man at arms, kinghts templar, fanatics, halbierads and long bowmen

..is there any way in stopping these monsters, or do i have to give the province up?

any help be appreciated.

this sounds challenging But, please, give us more information; urban militia is not a unit that I have a very high opinion of, so it shouldn't be all too difficult to defeat them.

Answer me these questions three...er, teen? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

1. Do you have any sort of a castle in that province?
2. What is the valor of your general?
3. What is the valor of the enemy general (guess probably 9 http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif )
4. What is the exact amount and quality of your and enemy troops?
5. Do you maintain a defense position or do you charge the enemy?
6. Have you considered using the distinctions of the map to your advantage? (Higher ground for defense, river crossings etc...)
7. Can you bring more of your troops into the province, meaning do your lands border this province?

From experience I know that Alomhads breed like crazy http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif and that you will probably have to abandon the province if you can't bring massive reinforcement... But let us all try to solve this situation

PS Once again, the old military wisdom is confirmed; it's easy to conquer, but far much harder to hold the conquered

You indeed posted this question before, and you have got some replies in that thread in the Main Hall. Here is the link: Help against Almohads (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=7;t=13188)

Basically I would try to replay the battle with my best general and/or try assassinating the enemmy general. If you still can't win, then retreat and try to scatter their forces and beat them one by one.
