So I playing the French having a merry old time building citdals in Tripoli and Cathedrals in Ile de France and other glorious things when disastor strikes The King is producing no heirs in the mid 13th century for the secound game in a row Well I am not having France collapse yet again, I send the King and his two worthless brothers off to Syria to crusade against the Egyptions, maybe the youngest brother can come threw in the manly department.
So here is King Lois and 60 men verse the entire Egyption army. What can 60 men do again thousands? Well in MTW it turns out a lot when you have valors of 8+. three provinces and 900 dead Egyptions later Louis goes off to were ever good little crusaders go after a scene out of Conan were it takes a three thousand man army to bring him down (the trail of bodies he left accross the battlefield personally was impressive) At his brother Charles is king producing heirs so all is well
What this means in the Mega Dux has been doing this all wrong Forget tactics, forget technology just get small bands of super elite units and victory is assured A few bands of hire valor royal knights and lots of pesants and the world is mine. Bahahaha
Indeed some Generals (Kings/Heirs) can become rediculously strong.
Long time ago I once sent a couple of armies to boost up an Almohad Khalifa (one man army) and he got a lot of terrifying V&V's. I can't remember if he died after a couple of battles though.
Exactly, who needs armies containing units like Gothic Knights etc when you can have Darth Vader (mostlikely used many times to name such generals ;)- or just jedi's)fighting all of you battles.

Tried and true... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif
Jedi generals/royals & heirs are sometimes annoying, but then again, why not? It's been known to happen once in a while... But then again, seeing a single, simple speerman fighting an entire unit of my own speerman, standing surrounded for ten minutes and then, after killing a dozen of my own men, suddenly dies, is somewhat... Well... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif

If the General/King/prince or whatever is in a small group archers are a very effective why of killing them. It doesn't help if you are as brave as a lion if an arrow comes hurtling into your body http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Yes, it's sometimes ridiculous how strong kings are, but this feature is for a reason. If your king would be just as vulnerable as ordinairy units, it would require just one lucky blow or arrow to knock him out, and have his entire army demoralized or even running away. And since the unit leader always stands up front, you could not even have a small fight without a terrible risk. And this would be especialy annoying in the early battles when just don't have enough men and you are forced to use the general. Because of that the general has been given extra Hit-points, unlike all other units who just have one.
(And still this kind of accidental early routs happen. It once happend to me in bridge defence battle: the worst possible place at the worst possible time http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif ).
Of course this feature becomes annoing in large battles, when you don't immediatly use the king, when its unit has high armor/defensive stats. The chances of a hit are small, a you need to hit him several times
I don't know if this also applies to the leaders of non-general units (the guy who has the banner).
A solution would be to give all soldiers more than one hitpoint (but this reduces the effect of charges, since the charge bonus only applies for the first hit), or to give generals a higher defence/ armor/ valor stat, but I believe this would be very hard ro implement. And even then the lucky shot would still be a danger.
And you must remember that in real battles, generals had bodyguards that would protect him. Not just a bunch of units around him, that care only for their own little duels, like in STW/MTW.
