View Full Version : My first lost
For the first time ever i actually lost a game. I was playing as the italians and my current doge died leaving a 28 year old prince and his 26 year old brother. Both were married but my new doge went through some vowel of celibacy. In fact it took him to the prime old age of fifty before he pop his first son. The doge sixty birthday approach and I am hoping like hell the old bugger can last just a few more years. Unfortuantly the dodges younger brother dies (well he disappeared, don't sure what happan to him). The new young prince makes it to 15 and the old doge is still hanging in at 65 and next turn diaster he diesof an illness just as the little prince was coming of age. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif
The same happened to me yesterday. Olaf II died at 55, Sweyn became king at 28. Even though he had been married since he was 18, he had a son at about 50 ...
Moved the king around to make him live a bit longer but he died when the prince was 14 ... All his royal brothers had died before him ...
GAME OVER
Not my first loss but always irritating when you do everything by the book and loose anyway ... Personally I prefer to loose as a result of a silly blunder ...

Same here ... the Welsh heir took over the throne at the age of 17 ( ) and got married shortly after.
The sucker did not manage to have a son until the age of 44 ( ) - he only had two daughters before that.
Of course the king died at age 59 ... no heir ... no brother ... no Welsh hordes invading the neighboring provinces http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif
I didnt have such problem with the blessed Byzantine Kings seed http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif (just joking)
Happened twice but cannot remember names...

That would be a bit of a tough pill to swallow, especially as you have no control over that aspect. I haven’t yet run into the situation of loosing all my heirs, but I did have a rather scary brush with such a thing earlier in my current game. As the Byzantines I had an emperor and two heirs of age. My emperor died which wasn’t of much surprise as he was in his 70’s. However two years later, his successor passed away. It was only out of sheer luck that the successor already had a son of age to rule.
With regards to your curiosity as to what happened the brother of the new Doge - as I understand it, when a son takes power, his brothers are no longer in contention for the crown, and therefore, no longer heirs. They then disappear from the “heir screen”. The brother would still be alive, but as a general with royal blood.
If you inbreed you will get heirs but they may be a little goofy. Better to spend a few years with a crackbrained vice than to lose the game.

I have lost to that once.
As the danes the second generation into the game.
My king was very fertile, he got eleven daughters before his first son. Sadly it was in version 2.0 and my king was 42 when he got his first son http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif.
But luckly it didn't matter much because it happened so early into the campaign.

The guy of 50 was the King's (55) younger brother, right? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Luckily, my Sultans have been quite fertile up to now, even if one or two did have had a preference for young boys rather than young women.
I have been blessed by Allah, indeed http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

Far less problem playing as Muslim ...
No need to find a princess, there are already plenty of them in your harem http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/idea.gif

Yes. Contrary to Catholics, it isn't a problem throughout the game

Actually i have notice that the christian lines are a bit, well infertile. However when the line does kick off they seem to be bleesed with bad vises. My latest game as the sicilains has been bleesed with multiple princes. However even though the king decent (4 star) all his son and brothers have turned into drunks. Must be that french wine
