Just out of curousity how many ever played warhammer: shadow of a horn rat, or dark omen. They have got to be the first type of game like total war where the focus is charging at the right time, as well as flanking your opponents. It was the first game I played that really keeped the focus on destroying a foe with strategy rather than the current trend of build a big force and conquer

I have played Shadow of the Horned Rat and loved it though I never finished it.I plat GW tabletop games so I'm probably a little biased in my opinion, but I though it was a very good game similar to Total War but smaller in it's scope.

I completed both the normal and extended campaign in Shadow of the Horned Rat and I loved it. Is this other Warhammer strategy game any good? I'd love to see a Warhammer 40k TW-style game too.

I played Shadow on the PS and thought it was great, but I can't get Dark Omen to work on my PC http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

This just got me thinking how cool it would be to have a Warhammer - Total War mod...

Both games I found to be really good, the extra strategy element of how you couldn't just replace a fallen unit by bringing in more meant you couldn't partake in a war of attrition. I hated Dark Omen, my fire wizard always got shot by skelly archer fire so darn early in the campaign http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

Dark omen was similary to Shadow of the Horned Rat (SotHR), the graphic and battles were done to a higher level however what made SotHR better was it out of battle campaiging. In dark omen you lost all the freedom that made SotHR good. You no longer got to make choices and higher and firing troops, picking which path to take, in general outside of the battles dark omen was pretty sadly done. But, the good thing What I like about dark omen was it balance was restored within battles. In SotHR Wizards were ultimate but not as good as a the cannons. One shot took out an entire regiment, wizard's could wipe out entire regiments until he ran out of mana. Dark omen you had to use all your troops however I tended to do the same tatic for most battles, send calvary forward, get them to chase me back in to my archers and the run them over with infantry.

I did clock dark omen and the firstitme i acheived it was lame as my entire army got wiped out except me and the steam tank. The steam tank earned over 2000exp from that last mission.

Both were excellent games - unfortunately I can't make them run on my new computer, but they're probably pretty dated by now anyway.
